RE: Mark and iPhone 14 Pro Max, Together at Last

It seems Apple will be discontinuing the iPhone 13 family or at least the 
iPhone 13 Pro/Pro Max. Telus, my provider here in Canada, recently had such a 
good deal on the iPhone 13 Pro that I decided to upgrade from my iPhone 11 even 
though I initially hadn't planned to get a new phone this year. Of course I 
also wanted to get my wife an iPhone 13 Pro, she has an 11 Pro currently. 
Anyways, when I did my order online with Telus only the iPhone 13 Pro 256 Gb in 
Sierra blue was offered. Since that is plenty of storage for me (I currently 
have 64 Gb on my 11 and use a bit more than half) I placed my order. Afterwards 
and probably within 10 minutes I completed my wife's order and received a 
screen with order confirmation. My phone then shipped the next day (I placed 
the order on December 8) and I received it on Monday, December 12. Since I 
wanted to give my wife the phone for Christmas I simply left my phone in the 
box so she wouldn't notice I had a new phone and though er phone must come 
soon. When I had received nothing a few days later I called Telus and the rep 
told me the phone would ship any day now and I'd get it at the latest on Monday 
the 19th. The 19th came and went with  no phone nor a shipment confirmation 
email so yesterday I called Telus again and then after quite a long wait when I 
was put on hold again and again the rep said that phone had been cancelled. He 
said I would have received an email, but when I told him I had not he checked 
and realized they had a completely incorrect email on the order even though I 
had entered it correctly and receive a confirmation email. I then started 
complaining about the mess up, the fact the other agent a few day sbefore told 
me the phone would ship soon and general lack of communication. He was very 
understanding, put me on hold again to talk to his boss and then asked if I 
would be interested in an iPhone 14. I told him if anything only in the Pro 
model so he read me off their current offer which also sounded not too bad, but 
I insisted that Telus should give me something for all that inconvenience and 
the fact that most likely I would now not have a phone to give to my wife for 
Christmas. I suggested he should tell his supervisor that I would be happy with 
a one-time credit of maybe $250 which would have offset the additional monthly 
cost and higher buy-out price. All of these offers are based on a 2-year 
contract with no upfront payment, a certain monthly payment and then I can 
either give the device back to Telus and get something new or pay the buy-out 
price and keep it. Anyways, he said he would have to work all this out and he 
would call me back the next day (Tuesday) to confirm. I heard nothing on 
Tuesday so this morning I called again and this time had a much better agent on 
the line. He then told me that what the other agent had quoted me was in fact 
for an iPhone 14 not a 14 Pro and in the end he put me through to a different 
agent in the loyalty and retention department. She then asked me if I would 
possibly be interested in a 13 Pro Max, but I said that would really be my last 
choice, she then said they also still had some regular iPhone 13 Pro models 
with 512 Gb so basically the same as I ordered, but instead of 256 Gb it has 
512 Gb of storage. I asked her if she couldn't just call it even because of all 
the hassle so now I am again waiting because she has to clear it with her 
supervisor. At least this lady sent me an email and when I didn't get a call 
around 6 PM Pacific time I emailed her assuming she was done for the day, but 
she replied within a couple of minutes that she couldn't get everything cleared 
up and she would call me tomorrow morning around 8:30 or 9.
I guess I will see how this ends, I told her that unless they figure out a 
solution which does not cost me an arm and a leg I would want to send my iPhone 
13 Pro back as well, I would expect them to reinstate my previous plan which 
was not a 5G plan and was $10 cheaper and that I would simply continue for 
another year with my iPhone 11.
Of course I also used a Best Buy gift card I bought with points from my credit 
card to order two Belkin 3-in-1 MagSafe charging docks and they of course won't 
do me much good without a phone which supports MagSafe.
But it definitely looks like the iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max and maybe the 
regular iPhone 13 are being discontinued and once the remaining stock from 
carriers, at Apple Stores and other retailers is gone that will be it. I don't 
know if Apple is doing this to boost the lackluster sales performance of the 
iPhone 14 and 14 Plus or if ti was always part of the plan, might also be a 
preparation for the new iPhone SE which is rumoured to come out in March or 
April next year.

I’m not sure why this did not occur sooner unless the battery case I just 
bought was not charged at all or enough to charge my phone. This  I don’t 
really understand because when I asked someone sighted they often told me the 
back of the case was lit up and I kept it plugged in for up to 2 ours which the 
literature said to do.

   Suddenly yesterday I heard the sound of plugging in the charger 
when I must have successfully turned my battery case on without any sighted 
feedback. The phone was not plugged into an outlet, it  simply sat in the 
battery case. So the way it works, and maybe they all do, when the battery case 
has charge it charges the phone when the case’s power is turned on.

I didn’t know this is the way they worked. How I thought they worked was to 
take the charge from the battery case first when both the case and phone were 
charged. Or, maybe they draw off energy from the phone as usual without a case, 
but if you turn the case on, it will charge the phone with whatever juice the 
case has, and give the phone what it needs until you don’t need it to charge up 
anymore. 

Now then, I guess if the battery case has nothing more to give, you would know 
if your phone goes low and if the battery case is on, it won’t say it’s 
charging up in the status bar anymore. All of this latter process would be done 
without a charging cord plugged in.

Is this all obvious to the rest of you who use battery cases? Does this sound 
right? I definitely do have a charging case or port of one sort or another, so 
at least my $30  got me something.

I completely understand.  I, too, have a great number of audio books and radio 
dramas on my phone so am looking forward to the extra space.

Also, With the right subscription plan, one can download television episodes 
from YouTube TV.  While I don't watch a great deal of television, it will be 
nice to know that I have the space, should I decide to do so.

Ever since I bought my iPhone 8, I've had apple care with theft and loss.  I 
did get rid of this, since I purchased my iPhone 13 pro max.
I only pay around $13 per month for my apple care.  I have the 1 terabyte model 
as well, just the 13 pro max instead of the 14.  I really like my phone and 
since I have a lot of audio dramas and audio books on my phone that is also 
very nice.  I figure if I have one terabyte of storage, I might as well use it.

Per the developer, I uninstalled the app yet again, powered off the phone, 
re-started, and re-downloaded Weather Gods. Nothing changed. Since 
notifications on other apps work, the reset you are describing seems a bit 
drastic to me. I have uninstalled Weather Gods and canceled my subscription. If 
I'm ever forced to get a new phone, perhaps I'll re-visit Weather Gods, if it's 
still available.

I'm with AT & T, using an iPhone 11 & having the problem with calls cutting out 
since updating to IOS 16.2. I was on a 42 minute call last night & the call cut

Running iOS16.2 on an SE2020 iPhone.  Every time I send a text message, and it 
doesn't matter whether I send by typing it  out or dictating and using Siri, I 
get a message in the Notification Center stating the message failed to send 
when the message did indeed send.  Is this happening to anyone else?  Any input

Congratulations on your new 13 Pro Max.  Wow!  What a great deal you got on the 
price.

Monday, I had decided to purchase iPhone 13 Pro Max because it does have that 
SIM slot; however, when I checked the Apple site, it indicated that Apple is no 
longer selling iPhone 13 Pro Max.  

It did not occur to me to check Gazelle.com.Gazelle has been around for a 
long time and is a marvelous resource for purchasing refurbished models.

Well done and I know you are going to love your new 13 Pro Max.

preferred model in stock.

I also purchased Apple Care Plus with Theft Protection.  I had never heard of 
this theft protection ad-on until the sales person informed me of its 
existence.  

The salesperson at Apple was more than eager to configure the phone for use 
with my wireless provider but, believe it or not, I was not quite ready for 
that, just yet.  I expect to begin using the phone before Christmas.

So, there you have it; Mark and iPhone 14 Pro Max, together at last (smile).

I'm late to this thread and I apologize if my answers have already been 
addressed. The subject mentions the AppleVis newsletter which I think of as a 
text publication that I receive via email. However, the message body seems to 
be discussing the native iOS Podcasts app. I don't have the email the current 
message I'm replying to is referencing so my answer is making some assumptions. 

 

It sounds as if you need to subscribe to the AppleVis podcast which I believe 
using current terminology is now called following instead of subscribing. 
Search on AppleVis from within the app and double tap on the appropriate 
result. When the screen opens, double tap on the Follow button at the top of 
the screen. That should subscribe you to that podcast. 

 

Hopefully, doing so will address your other questions.

Congratulations on your new phone.

I wanted to buy a 512GB but simply could not find one in my local area which 
consists of about 8 Apple store locations, if you can believe that.  All any of 
them had, today at least, were 256GB and 1TB models; so I just went with the 
higher capacity model.

I am seriously looking forward to upgrading from my beloved 8 Plus which has 
served me so very well.

Again, congratulations and I look forward to your feedback on your setup 
experience..

Ever since I bought my iPhone 8, I've had apple care with theft and
loss.  I did get rid of this, since I purchased my iPhone 13 pro max.
I only pay around $13 per month for my apple care.  I have the 1
terabyte model as well, just the 13 pro max instead of the 14.  I
really like my phone and since I have a lot of audio dramas and audio
books on my phone that is also very nice.  I figure if I have one
terabyte of storage, I might as well use it.

Kilburn lost his battle with glioblastoma this past wednesday. He was a 
great co worker, he knew his apple products, and if he didn't know it, 
then it hadn't been invented yet.  We worked on a lot of projects over the 
years. He taught me a lot, and he will be missed greatly! Here at 
SturItUp, TTJTech.biz, and MacForTheBlind we send our condolences to his 
wife and Children. John Matt and I had great times with Tim, he had a one 
of a kind since of humor.  So again Tim, rest in Peace, and we will see 
you on the other side. Your life time Student.

Hello Everyone,

As the subject line suggest, today, I purchased iPhone 14 Pro Max, 1
Terabyte.

My friend was unable to purchase the Pro Max in Japan, without declaring a
local wireless provider at the time of purchase.  She actually went to three
different Apple stores in three different areas of the country but, given
her time constraints, it just didn't make sense to go forward with the
purchase.

So, I finally decided to drink the proverbial Kool-Aid and purchase a model
from a local store.  The challenge was finding a local Apple store that had
my preferred model in stock.

I also purchased Apple Care Plus with Theft Protection.  I had never heard
of this theft protection ad-on until the sales person informed me of its
existence.  

The salesperson at Apple was more than eager to configure the phone for use
with my wireless provider but, believe it or not, I was not quite ready for
that, just yet.  I expect to begin using the phone before Christmas.

So, there you have it; Mark and iPhone 14 Pro Max, together at last (smile).

I'm late to this thread and I apologize if my answers have already been addressed. The subject mentions the AppleVis newsletter which I think of as a text publication that I receive via email. However, the message body seems to be discussing the native iOS Podcasts app. I don't have the email the current message I'm replying to is referencing so my answer is making some assumptions. It sounds as if you need to subscribe to the AppleVis podcast which I believe using current terminology is now called following instead of subscribing. Search on AppleVis from within the app and double tap on the appropriate result. When the screen opens, double tap on the Follow button at the top of the screen. I am using the Apple Podcast app which comes by default on the iPhone and 
although, by doing a search, I can find individual episodes of Apple.vis, which 
indeed I can read, I can see no options like those you describe, no reference 
to settings etc.

Hi All,

Running iOS16.2 on an SE2020 iPhone.  Every time I send a text message, and 
it doesn't matter whether I send by typing it  out or dictating and using 
Siri, I get a message in the Notification Center stating the message failed 
to send when the message did indeed send.  Is this happening to anyone else?

Once you found the photo that you wanna delete, double tap on it, and there is 
a delete button inside the photo. There's no longer an edit button that I can

The only way to Delete photos used to go into every single photo swipe right 
until you see the word delete and double tap on it. I don’t think there is a

I do not have the problem, Hollie with 14 Pro and AT Who is your carrier? 
When I had Consumer Cellular, while I just loved their prices and customer 
service, I had more problems like that that you are describing. So, do you have 
an NVMO?

I have no problem changing the volume using the speaker, but I do have a 
problem when trying to turn up the volume when the phone is next to my ear.  
The volume is too low using the ear piece, if you call it that.  I do have the 
sound volume set to change with the buttons.

I am relieved to learn that others are experiencing issues with the latest 
version of Siri.  I’m not sure why, but I MUST be very careful to review any 
text I enter in iMessages, e-Mails, text and Word documents because I’ve found 
some very improper words as interpreted by Siri.  As a member of our church 
governing board, I surely do not want to send such words to our priest nor any 
of the “Church Ladies” I communicate with from time to time.  YIKES!
