Have you tried making it apart of your wigit? then you can have it on your
main home screen and have quick access to it. Or place it in your doc.

  Hello Dennis and All,

Thank you for this information about the audio! I think I recently jinxed
myself, when I told you all, the Weatherology worked fine for me, because
now when I tell Siri to read my weather forecast from my Weatherology App,
she replies by saying I don’t have a app by that name! Well, it was nice
when it worked for the few days! I also went in to the settings, and
enabled the app to automatically read the forecast as soon as I open the
app, and some times, that works and some times it doesn’t! I also noticed
if I tap on the play button to read out loud the current forecast, it says
the current temperature is 66 degrees, but when I just read the forecast
without the audio feature, it reads the current temperature is 64 degrees.
Although, so far, I am still getting weather alerts. Does any one know how
I can check the current humidity from the app? I’ve searched and searched in
the settings, but just can’t find it.

Thank you all so much, as it is greatly appreciated!

  Janet.

When you go in to the settings of the Weatherology app, do you double tap
on the play button? If so, does the app then read?

About using Phone Link with Jaws
Phone Link for Windows seems to remember where you last were in the
 program.
So, if you exit the app while on Messages, focus will be on the New
Message button when you start it again.
If you were on the Calls tab, it will start with your call history.

I left Phone Link on messages, so when I launched it, Jaws speech history
 shows:
 SplashScreen loading
 Phone Link
 New message Button

If I shift tab from the New Message button, I hear:
 Features
Secondary Features Settings. No unread items Tab 1 of 1 Alt followed
 by S

 Shift+tab again and hear:
Features Messages. No unread items Tab 1 of 2 Alt followed by 1

Then right arrow once and hear:
Calls. No unread items Tab 2 of 2 Alt followed by 2

Now, If you hit spacebar when on Messages and tab you get:
Features Messages. No unread items Tab 1 of 2 Alt followed by 1 Tab
 again to:
Secondary Features Settings. No unread items Tab 1 of 1 Alt followed
 by S Tab again:
 New message Button
 Tab again:
Conversations List box Recent Conversation with Richard Turner.
Message preview. Testing. 1 of 1
 Tab:
 Learn more about messages Button
Keep tabbing and you get info about your phone, etc.

When I am on my phone info in Phone Link and press the hotkey for calls,
 Alt+2 I hear:
 Call History
 Recent calls List box
Carol Davies, Incoming, ?12?-?Aug?-?23 at ?8?:?25? ?PM If I tab then,
 I hear:
 Dialer Search your contacts Edit
You can then search your contacts.
If you keep tabbing without searching, you hear:

 Keypad
 1 Button
 2 Button
 3 Button
 4 Button
 5 Button
 6 Button
 7 Button
 8 Button
 9 Button
 * Button
 0 Button
 # Button

If I am in the Search your Contacts and for example type Fred: I get this:
 2 results. Suggestions: 2, fred
 Fred Meyer Hawthorne. 5 0 3 8 7 2 3 3 0 0 . Work

If I hit enter on that number I hear:

 Call Dialed number ( 5 0 3 ) 8 7 2 - 3 3 0 0 Button If I hit enter
again, I call that number from my computer using my phone.
The focus with Jaws lands on the End Call button, or if your phone is
handy you can do the standard two finger double tap to hang up.

If you are on the messages tab, New Message Button and hit spacebar or
enter, you land in the to field.
If I use the above example and type Fred I get the same results, and
if I hit enter, I am in an edit box to type my text message.
Note, As far as I can tell, you cannot enter hard returns/new lines in a
text message, when you hit enter, it sends the message.

 I hope that is helpful,

Subject: My Favorite KINDLE APP FEATURE AND A BOOK RECOMMENDATION

Hello All,

I think I’ve mentioned this in a previous post but one aspect of Kindle books
that I have been using more and more, is the feature to seamlessly switch
between the live narration of a title and the text of that same title, directly
from within the Kindle app.

If you have not yet explored this feature of the Kindle app, give it a try. I
think you will be pleased.

I recently started reading one of Stephen King’s latest novels called Fairy
Tale. This is not a horror story. If anything, it is a fairy tale for adults.

I strongly recommend that you give this book a try because never in my adult
life have I ever come across a mainstream story in which people with real-life
disabilities are portrayed in such heroic and equal measure as their
non-disabled counterparts.

I am about 50% through the story. Up to this point, other than some slight
profanity, there are no descriptions of sex or any quote, adult, quote, content.

There is a long history as to why Stephen King possesses the ability to write
about people with disabilities in such exciting and yet realistic pros but I’ll
let you discover the answer to that, on your own, if you so choose.

It is so very refreshing to become immersed in a story where people with
disabilities are treated as equals and not as people who have super human
powers who can, for example, in the case of a blind person, distinguish someone
across a room by the rhythm of his heartbeat and respiration rate. I’ve
actually had highly educated professionals, ask me if such a thing is true
based on something they read about on the net or saw in some movie.

Regardless of whatever book you choose, happy reading.

Mark

The app listed Sporting Event as one of the options for notifications. I have
no clue on the planet what it will do.

Perhaps writing the developer? They seem quite responsive.

I haven’t found one.  Thanks.

I have added its details to my web site.  I'm copying what I put

I had tried this app some years ago. They have been udpating it,
and now it works well with VoiceOver, at least for the forecast

details instead of the simple forecast, it doesn't say selected,
but it is. That should be fixed in the next update. Their customer

2023-08-14 Thread janet gross
Hello Dennis and All,
Thank you for this information about the audio! I think I recently jinxed
myself, when I told you all, the Weatherology worked fine for me, because now
when I tell Siri to read my weather forecast from my Weatherology App, she
replies by saying I don’t have a app by that name! Well, it was nice when it
worked for the few days! I also went in to the settings, and enabled the app
to automatically read the forecast as soon as I open the app, and some times,
that works and some times it doesn’t! I also noticed if I tap on the play
button to read out loud the current forecast, it says the current temperature
is 66 degrees, but when I just read the forecast without the audio feature, it
reads the current temperature is 64 degrees. Although, so far, I am still
getting weather alerts. Does any one know how I can check the current humidity
from the app? I’ve searched and searched in the settings, but just can’t find
it.

Thank you all so much, as it is greatly appreciated!

Janet.

RE: Phone Link for Windows 11

2023-08-14 Thread Christopher Chaltain
I'm running it, and it's not causing any problems with JAWS. In addition to
Richard's excellent notes below, you can also use it to read the notifications
on your phone and get these notifications in Windows. It seems like the
notifications panel is always there, so you'll get to it by tabbing around. You
can also go into your Windows settings and turn on or off notifications for
specific apps on your phone. For example, I don't need mail or calendar
notifications from my phone on my PC since I already get those notifications
from my Windows applications.

Phone Link for Windows with JAWS

Phone Link is a service in Windows 11 that allows you to connect your smart
phone over bluetooth so you can use your computer for taking/making calls as
well as reading/sending text messages. It is available for both Android and
iOS. A link to the Microsoft page concerning Phone Link is at the end.
The app is called Link to Windows.

I don't have it all figured out, but here is a start.

Phone Link for Windows seems to remember where you last were in the program.
So, if you exit the app while on Messages, focus will be on the New Message
button when you start it again.
If you were on the Calls tab, it will start with your call history.

I left Phone Link on messages, so when I launched it, Jaws speech history shows:

call that number from my computer using my phone.
The focus with Jaws lands on the End Call button, or if your phone is handy you
can do the standard two finger double tap to hang up.

If you are on the messages tab, New Message Button and hit spacebar or enter,
you land in the to field.
If I use the above example and type Fred I get the same results, and if I hit

Note, As far as I can tell, you cannot enter hard returns/new lines in a text
message, when you hit enter, it sends the message.

RE: Weatherology iOS app

2023-08-14 Thread Richard Turner
Ell, when I open the Watch app on the iPhone, and go to the end of the items
there is an option to install Weatherology on the Watch, so I suspect it does.
I never use weather stuff on my watch because of the battery usage.

Mark

RE: Weatherology iOS app

2023-08-14 Thread Richard Turner
Yes.

Double tap the settings button.

Then, if you have your location set as a favorite, double tap on notifications.
I don't know what will be there if you don't have a favorite, but in my case,
after double tapping on notifications, each favorite has a button. Double tap
the one you want and you get options:

Allow notifications, on or off, obviously you want on.

Then a heading labeled, Weatherology Alerts.

They are:

Extreme Cold

Extreme Heat

Flodding

Rainfall

Severe Weather

Snowfall

Sporting Event

Tropical

Then a heading for National Weather Service NWS alerts

Advisory

Severe Weather

That's it.

After toggling on or off the ones you want, be sure to double tap the Back
button at the top.

Then, there may be a couple back buttons and when on the settings main screen,
a close button.

RE: How do I send messages? Make phone calls in view contacts in the link to phone app

2023-08-14 Thread Richard Turner
I decided to write up some instructions for using Phone Link for Windows.

About using Phone Link with Jaws
Phone Link for Windows seems to remember where you last were in the program.
So, if you exit the app while on Messages, focus will be on the New Message
button when you start it again.
If you were on the Calls tab, it will start with your call history.

I left Phone Link on messages, so when I launched it, Jaws speech history shows:
SplashScreen loading
Phone Link
New message Button

If I shift tab from the New Message button, I hear:
Features
Secondary Features Settings. No unread items Tab 1 of 1 Alt followed by S

No unread items Tab 1 of 2 Alt followed by 1
Tab again to:
Secondary Features Settings. No unread items Tab 1 of 1 Alt followed by S
Tab again:
New message Button
Tab again:
Conversations List box Recent Conversation with Richard Turner. Message
preview. Testing. 1 of 1
Tab:
Learn more about messages Button
Keep tabbing and you get info about your phone, etc.

When I am on my phone info in Phone Link and press the hotkey for calls, Alt+2
I hear:
Call History
Recent calls List box
Carol Davies, Incoming, ?12?-?Aug?-?23 at ?8?:?25? ?PM
If I tab then, I hear:
Dialer Search your contacts Edit
You can then search your contacts.
If you keep tabbing without searching, you hear:

Keypad
1 Button
2 Button
3 Button
4 Button
5 Button
6 Button
7 Button
8 Button
9 Button
* Button
0 Button
# Button

If I am in the Search your Contacts and for example type Fred: I get this:
2 results. Suggestions: 2, fred
Fred Meyer Hawthorne. 5 0 3 8 7 2 3 3 0 0 . Work

If I hit enter on that number I hear:

Call Dialed number ( 5 0 3 ) 8 7 2 - 3 3 0 0 Button
If I hit enter again, I call that number from my computer using my phone.
The focus with Jaws lands on the End Call button, or if your phone is handy you
can do the standard two finger double tap to hang up.

If you are on the messages tab, New Message Button and hit spacebar or enter,
you land in the to field.
If I use the above example and type Fred
I get the same results, and if I hit enter, I am in an edit box to type my text
message.
Note, As far as I can tell, you cannot enter hard returns/new lines in a text
message, when you hit enter, it sends the message.

I hope that is helpful,

Richard, USA.
