But in order to use Waltr2 you still need to have iTunes installed on the
computer, don't you?

Then enjoy it while it lasts which most likely won't be too much
longer now that the Apple Music, Apple TV and Apple Devices apps

There are plenty of articles which confirm that it is likely Apple
will replace iTunes with these apps, maybe this year, maybe next,
but once Apple released these separate apps for the Mac, iTunes for
the Mac went away pretty quick. Of course at this point you can't

There is of course also the fact that you and others who transfer
huge amounts of media whether MP3, M4A or Daisy format are a very

Re: navigation speech software on iPhone12 Pro

2024-01-28 Thread Kelly Pierce
I was on vacation last August in the Pocono Mountains in eastern
Pennsylvania. In the valleys, I had no cell service. Yet Blind Square
continued to lead me to the cabins and fire pits I created as
favorites, as navigation satellites were used to provide location
information. When cell service went away, Good Maps Outdoors was
useless. Blind Square has worked well for me in both the big city
where I live, Chicago, and in rural areas where I visit with no or
spotty cell service.

You nmay want to try Good Maps Outdoors, of course you would have to use some
sort of headset which would allow you to hear the instructions from the GPS yet
also it should not block a lot of surrounding sounds like traffic.

I find the wired Apple Earpods work well for me because I can just use the
right side and they don’t block out much noise.

I usually have my phone in a belt holster which allows me to easily pull it out
if I have to interact with it.

I have a iPhone12 pro and wonder if any of you use speech navigation software
to get around using a white cane?

What software and where or how do you carry your phone when walking?

I put my iPhone in a fanny pack but I think GPS was blocked. I believe I lost
the connection.

If so what software might I use and how easy to install and learn?

Thanks,

Re: Creating ringtones on iPhone with Ringtone Maker and Garage Band apps

2024-01-28 Thread Kelly Pierce
To transfer music and ringtones to my iPhone, I use a program called
Waltr Pro, which has an annual subscription fee of $35. Nicely
accessible, more so than iTunes, and none of the headaches and
hassles. For making ringtones, I slice an MP3 file down with MP3
Direct Cut, which also has fade in and fade out functionality. I then
use an online file converter to turn it into an M4R file. I like
heavy metal music and have turned a number of classic heavy metal
songs into ringtones. When my phone rings, a heavy guitar rift plays
from Metallica, Judas Priest, the Scorpions, guns and Roses, and many
others. I am told my ring tones turn heads. They are great
conversation starters.

In highly professional environments, I have the Grateful Dead, Miles
Davis, count Basie bill Evans, and Maynard Ferguson.

I have found that custom ringtones are backed up to iCloud so when my
phone is restored, the ringtones come back before I need to transfer
them from my PC.
