Re: Not getting notifications

2021-08-05 Thread Antonio Guimaraes
Hi all,

Thanks for responding to let me know you're facing the same issue.

I'll work with Apple's tech support to see if they can detect something going
wrong.

Not getting notifications

2021-08-05 Thread Antonio Guimaraes
Hi all,

My phone is no longer alerting me when I get a text, WhatsApp message, or any
other notification. No ring, ding, or VoiceOver alert.
It does ring, but that's about the only notification that does anything.

I've called Apple Accessibility support on this issue, and we looked everywhere
in settings including notifications, sounds and haptics, do not disturb, and
VoiceOver settings. We verified I am running the latest iOS release, and I am
indeed running 14.7.1. We double checked that my phone is not on silent.

The problem remains, and I was asked to call their tech support line with a
case number.

Is this happening to anyone else?

Thanks,

Antonio

I got that bug last night too. You should update WhatsApp, and that will take

I feel its interface is better than Apple Calendar. I would use it exclusively

Re: messenger

2018-11-25 Thread Antonio Guimaraes
Hi Robert,

I experience similar results.

Try tapping the "messages" button after you open the app.

I could not find the messages button by exploring the phone screen. To find it,
first locate the settings button on the top left, then flick left once, and
you'll see it.

Alternatively, go to top of screen by touching with four fingers towards the
top half of the screen. That should land you on the messages button.

No input

2017-08-18 Thread Antonio Guimaraes
Hi all,

My phone screen seems to be only active for input intermittently.

I cannot double tap on anything. It is almost as if my fingers could no longer
activate any area of the screen.

I can only make the screen respond randomly, and now after powering the phone
off and on, I cannot enter my password to get to the home screen.

I have been having battery calibration issues in the past few days. I don't
know if it could be related.

Any ideas of what could be going on before I take this thing over to an Apple
store?

Thanks,

Antonio

Re: subscribing to this list without a gmail account?

2016-06-29 Thread Antonio Guimaraes
Hello,

I too have had an enormously difficult time joining this list.

I am did up connecting with someone who forwarded a message to the moderator on
my behalf.

Marc send me a direct email invitation to join the list. I just have to accept
it, and was immediately back on.

I believe the methods for joining these lists should be revised. Sending a
subscribe message to the Google groups address generates an e-mail to the
sender asking to write back a reason for joining the list.

Apparently this goes out for approval, but it's never reviewed by a moderator.
This resulted in my request to join to be denied several times before I got
really upset about my ability to join back on the list with a different email
address.

This is discouraging for people who are trying to learn how to use new
technologies.

I would recommend that the procedures for joining the list be revised to make
it possible for people to join.
As ever,

Antonio

Re: Moving Apps from One Page to Another

Hello Chuck,

One other way to move your apps as you would like is to move the app to the
last page as you start moving them around. The last page is extra, and is
always empty.

This way you can group all of the like apps together, then move them where you
want them to go.

Service to sell my CDs.

Hello,

I heard of in app/service that allows you to scan a barcode on your CD, and
have the people providing this service send you shipping material, and purchase
your CD from you.

I have a small collection of mostly Brazilian music, and I would like to get
rid of it.

Anyone use a service like this?

Thanks,

Re: scanning apps

2014-02-24 Thread Antonio Guimaraes
I bought text detective and I'm rather disappointed.

It is useless enough to leave me skeptical about any iPHone scanning solution.

Based on results, do any of you think I should reconsider, and give Textgrabber
a try?

It's not too expensive, which is a noter reason to be skeptical. How can this
be developed and sold for $5 and change, and be what we expect it to do?

Some times you do get what you pay for.

 Subject: scanning apps

I have a friend who is just about to move to the iPhone, from an old talks
phone with knfb reader. What scanning or ocr apps would people recommend? I
know I should already know the answer, but I've forgotten.
 Cheers
 Alex

Re: an app to get music,

2014-02-24 Thread Antonio Guimaraes
itube is quite nice.

You can search for, and store youtube videos right to the app. the video and
accompanying audio get streamed, buffered, and stored within the app so you
won't even need to stream fro youtube itself the next time you play a favored
video. It's pulled from youtube and saved until you clear, delete it.

There's one that my brother and sister-in-law uses called iTube. I think you
can download videos and lyric videos, but I don't think the actual song go
into your music app on the iPhone. For this, you half to jailbreak. Or, you
can download songs from YouTube, and connect your phone to the computer, and
use YouTube to MP3 converter, and then sync The song using iTunes to your
 phone.
 Hope this helps, Shane.

Re: anylist grocery list

2012-09-24 Thread Antonio Guimaraes

Try Grocery IQ.

I wonder if others will have experience with it, and know whether the
app has a sharing feature.

I'm almost 100 percent sure you can email a list, but will let others
weight in on this one if they can.

Hi folks,

does anyone use the anylist grocery list ap? I tried to share a list
with my girlfriend and voiceover is only reading me some of the items on
it as I scroll through it. For the ones it's not reading me, I have to
expand each one and then the item will come up with the info about it
where I can add a note. If I just scroll through, I'm greeted with a
flick sound but no item name until I click on the expand button. I don't
think it's an icon or picture on there, as the other things can be read
fine. Any help on this is appreciated, or a rec of another ap where you
can share grocery lists that is more accessible. thanks,
