Netatmo weather app update
Anyone using this app noticed that the radio and battery status from the external modules can’t be read with Voice Over? Any work around? Tips? The developers only solution to the problem is reinstalling the app and sending them a screen shot. I suspect that the text has been replaced by graphics totally useless to us Blindies, can anyone confirm this? It would add to the wind direction on the wind gauge, represented by an arrow. Shame! I love the station and all the info it gives in real time. Any comments and info on this matter very much appreciated! external battery for IPhone recommendations
I bought an external battery for my I devices a long time ago, it is bulky and as I cannot see the L E Ds on its panel, I can't determine its status. sharing a song by email or Imessage
When I select a song in My Music, I can see a share option, double-tapping this I get the choices: by Air Drop, by message or Email, I tried the last 2 and can't get the file containing the song to appear as an attachment to the mail or IMessage. Hi there, I use a Jawbone Up24 and its app. daily, I find the device quite useful, of course, not a patch on the Apple watch I presume, but cheaper to buy especially at that price for sure. The app. is not totally accessible but with a little patience and time, I'm sure you will understand its querks. If you ignore the pretty graphics, you will find it gives good and relevant information almost in real time and the site is pretty good as well. The best way to send a text message
Hi all, I thought the trouble I have sending text message would be solved when I added a plus sign to all the numbers in my contacts but the problem persists. I notice I can send text messages in 3 ways: 1 choosing a contact, double tapping on text, write my message and send. 2 Opening the message app, choose add contact, choose a contact, double tapping the mobile number, writing my message and send. When I use this method, and there are more than one number for the same contact, I notice the first number is always selected and I can't find a way to select the mobile number. The numbers are labelled correctly:i.e. Home, mobile, IPhone. When I look at the text messages I've sent, I can't find a way to tell me to which number they have been sent. When Writing contacts, should the mobile number be the first in the Phone field? I assumed it was the home phone number since the home label is the first of the option. I'm obviously doing something wrong here and can't put my finger on it. I know 2 people using the same provider, living in the same town, the only difference between them in my contacts is that one of them has a home number and a mobile number plus his home address and the other only has her mobile number. I can send and receive from the one with only one field but can't receive or send to the one with multiple fields. I assume the phone select the wrong number, the first one, and there is no way of changing it. The third way of sending a text is using the phone application, I get the same result. I've checked with my provider and they say there is nothing wrong with the network and my phone, the problem is with my contacts. I must add that I have no problem sending messages to IPhone users. I even tried turning IMessage off thinking the phone was trying to send IMessages to non-IPhone users, no luck. I'm sorry if this sounds more than a bit muddled, but I'm puzzled and frustrated, with my old Nokia, I could trust that any text I sent arrived to the sender, there was a beep telling me text had been delivered, it even stated the time it happened,There is no way I know of having this feature enabled on an IPhone when texting, Is my IPhone really Smart? I'm beginning to doubt it or is it me?... All comments/thoughts on this matter gratefully received. Thanks to all in advance. correct way to write numbers in contacts
Hi all! When I bought my IPhone 5S 6 weeks ago, the clerk who sold me the micro SIM told me she couldn't transfer my contacts numbers from my old Nokia 6630. So, it was up to me to copy the 250 or so numbers stored on there to the IPhone. Because Ihad had difficulties dialing numbers when I was abroad where I hadn't included the country code, I made sure to include it in all the numbers in my contacts. I didn't include the 00 before it because I enabled dialing assistant. Now, I find I can call all my contacts without problems but I can't text them. What did I do wrong? Should I have put a plus sign before the country code? Should I turn off the dialing assistant? Hope someone can help real soon, this is starting to annoy me just a bit... Hi Wren! I have to disagree on what has been stated on the latest message on this subject! I use a jawbone Up24 all the time, the band is easy to use, not difficult to set up and the application if a bit cluttered, is perfectly usable. The Smart coach feature is great! I am totally blind, not that clued about technical matters and have managed to set up the device without sighted assistance. deactivating passcode
Hi all, using a 5S how do you deactivate the passcode feature if you do not wish to use one anymore, I can find a deactivate button in settings but double tapping this doesn't seem to implement the command as when I lock and unlock my phone, I'm still asked to type my passcode. I was careful to turn settings off in the app switcher before locking and unlocking the device. What am I doing wrong? Any help gratefully received. Have used an IPod Touch for 5 years, realizing that my Touch 5 gen. will not be upgraded and will soon not be able to cope with future IOS updates, I scraped enough money to get a secondhand as good as new IPhone 5S. Got a suitable SIM card from my mobile provider and had someone turn Voice Over on as tripple click home was not set for it by default. Now, where do I go from here? Do I set the phone as new or from my Pod back up in ICloud? or in ITunes? My back up there is not incripted. I remembered to quickly set up the WIFI so the phone talk to my home network in case I was bombarded by ads coming through cellular data but am not very clear about which services use it and those which use mobile network. Text messages, are they data or ordinary mobile service? I assume that IMessages are data, am I correct? How can I be sure apps only use WIFI? Will the phone always use WIFI if it's available or does it have to be set that way somewhere? I couldn't get the assistant to transfer my contacts from my old Nokia 662 SIM to the new one, equipment not available, Is the only way to do this manually one by one? The Jawbone UP 24 activity tracker was a lovely present from my daughter this year, setting up the device has not been too difficult without visual help but I'm struggling with the application, I can't understand the menu structure, some of the labelled icons do not mean much to me and do not give a clue about what they do and some of the graphs or values are not readable. I can't figure out how to log a meal or use the food search feature. If anyone can help, please contact me off list as this might not be of general interest. Hi all, I can confirm that Voice Over doesn't perform as well with IOS8.11 when handling more than one language, on my IPod Touch 5 gen., when I change language on the roter from English to French, the speech rate becomes a lot faster and when I go back to English UK, my default language, the rate is even faster and sets itself to American English. The speech rate hasn't been changed in the Voice Over settings however, cranking it up a bit and resetting it to my preferred speed settles matters until I change the language again. The automatic language doesn't change automatically on the web as it used to either. Minor bugs really, especially when you can go round them as easily as this, but bugs all the same, and disappointing to find out that something that used to work flawlessly doesn't anymore in a supposedly improved version of the IOS. Itunes, my new PC and my IPod 5 gen.
When I install ITunes on my new PC using Win7, what will happen to my music when I plug in my IPod? I haven't subscribed to Match, Will all my music be removed from my Pod or will the reverse happen and it will be transferred on the ITunes Library on the new PC? I will have great difficulty copying the library from the old computer to the new if that's what I have to do because its connection to the Internet is broken and ITunes refuses to work properly without it. How to: transfer my music to an external drive
Hi all, My laptop using Microsoft Vista where I keep all back ups for ITunes for my IPod 5th gen. is dying, the hard drive needs to be reformatted. How do I transfer my music to an external drive? I know I can download all the apps again because they are stored in ICloud, but I haven't bought Match and have loads of music on the Pod not bought through ITunes. photos sent in IMessages
Hi all! Using 7.1 on my IPod Touch 5 gen. I do not get any notice when photos are sent to me in an IMessage as I used to, it used to say: contains media, I'm told the message in question has been delivered to me with the pictures but I can't find them. The odd thing is that if I read older messages containing pictures, the notice is there and I can access them. I've looked everywhere in settings, browsed my photo albums in case the photos have been put there automatically to no avail. I've used double tap and hold everywhere on the message without result, I've played with the different options in the rota without success. Would very much appreciate any comments/thoughts on this matter as the pictures are from my grandson's christening and it now means I can't print them or share them with anyone. Wich app. to record a sound file on an IPad and mail it to an IPod Touch5?
of mine wants to read aloud some poems using his IPad and sending them by mail to my IPod Touch 5 gen., he can't find any recording app. that supports email, we both use Gmail if that makes any difference, Can anyone suggest an app. which can do what we want? the process can't be too involved as my friend hasn't got a lot of patience and prefers things to be done quickly and efficiently. How do I delete Audible books from my IPod 5th gen?
I don't use the Audible app. to read or manage the books simply because it is not available on the app. store here in France. I can't find a way of deleting the books from the Pod, there is no action choice in the rota even if I highlight only a part of a specific book. I can't find a way of deleting the books from ITunes either, can't find a list of them, probably did once but couldn't find an option to delete anywhere. Can anyone help? The books I have read take a lot of room that I wish to use for something else now. playing video on my big telly from my IPod 5 gen
Hi all! I've bought an adapter to do this, I connect it to the HDMI port on my telly, select the right port, connect the other end to my Pod and play the video but no sound or picture gets to the telly. The HDMI port is highlighted on the screen but nothing more. What am I doing wrong? What is the exact type of cable I should buy? might have bought the wrong one. I've read all the details about the station on the site and will definitely buy it if you find it easy to set up. How about setting the connection between the indoor and outdoor unit? Is it done via your I device as well? Is it totally accessible? I'd rather not use a PC unless it's absolutely necessary to do any of the setting up as my version of JAWS is not as recent as yours and I can't update it easily. but we won't go into that! Thank you very much for this information, I am very interested in this as it seems to be the only accessible weather station available at the moment, could you please outline the difficulties you had connecting the station to your WIFI set up and explaining details how you managed to resolve them either on or off list? Hi all, Witch is the best way of transferring everything from my IPod 4 to my new toy please? I restored from back up via my PC but, because the back up was a couple of weeks old there are loads of updates to be done and, more worrying, ITunes doesn't now recognize the IPod 5 and therefore won't synch. All my music and settings have been transferred successfully and I can connect with WIFI without problem. My Pod 4th gen. gets backed up to the cloud regularly. trouble with my new IPod 5
When I first got it, I connected it to my Pc to charge it. It was immediately recognized as new and I was asked if I wanted to restore from the back up stored on my computer. Completely forgot about ICloud at the time and oked the process. It went very fast without a glitch. Unfortunately, now, Itunes doesn't recognize the new IPod, it just says synch and back up are unavailable. All my apps and music are on the new Pod, so, what could be the matter? Should I have set up the unit as new and restored from the Cloud? My IPod 4 is still going at the moment as I don't want to reset it to factory defaults until the new one is working properly. Is this the reason why the Pc doesn't recognize the new one? Any thoughts/comments welcomed. Thanks in advance to anyone willing to spend the time to help. IPod Touch 5 gen. and IPad mini, Are the processors in the 2 units the same? what about the cameras? how much bigger is the screen on the IPad mini? I know you can read all about dimensions but I find it difficult to visualize them, reference to a familiar object like a CD box or a classic book or an a4 page would help. Saving photos from an IMessage
Hi all, anyone found a work around to do this in IOS6? My daughter sends lots of photos of my six months old grandson this way, now I can't share the photos with anyone and therefore find it very difficult to have anyone to describe them to me. Tips on using Easyjet app. please!
Anyone using this app. to book or search for flights using an IPod touch 4th gen.? Because I have an account with the company, my most frequently used airport of departure and arrival are automatically selected but, using Voice Over, I can't find a way of selecting a date of departure or return other than the current day. I can't select type or number of passenger either. Would love to achieve this, anyone knows what combinations of flicks, swipes, double or triple taps I should use? BBC IPlayer Global on a big screen:
I understand I can watch this this way by plugging a specific cable from my IPod Touch 4th Gen. dock connection at one end and one of the HDMI connecter at the other end on my wide screen TV, what happens to the sound in such a configuration, will VO come through my TV's speakers? what about the sound from IPlayer? do they get routed to the TV's speakers as well? or do they stay on the Pod the way it happens with the Face Time App. when used plugged onto a sound dock?Thanks in advance to anyone taking the time to post any info/comments on this matter. phone style numeric keypad on apps:
How can I type letters with Voice Over when presented with the old style phone numeric keypad in an app where depending on the number of taps on a key you type a number or a letter? I have this on my bank app. to subscribe and type a password, can't work out how to do this. Please help! thanks in advance.
