RE: Hulu again

2020-12-02 Thread Christopher Chaltain
The fact that some people are seeing this and others aren't doesn't make it any
more likely that it's the operating system rather than the app itself. The fact
that it's hit and miss like this is even more reason to get as much information
into the hands of Apple and Hulu. Assuming they're serious about getting to the
route cause, they have a lot more resources to look for commonalities between
the people that are seeing this issue then the people on this list do. That's
not to say people shouldn't keep looking for what these people have in common,
but they shouldn't be doing this without also reporting this to Hulu and Apple.

2020-12-02 Thread Mary Otten
Hi Chris,
I have an iPhone 7 Plus running the beta of 14.3, and an iPhone XR with 14.2
public release. It works the same or I should say it doesn’t work on both
phones. The new feature for text recognition doesn’t make any difference at
least not here. And the people in the WhatsApp group who say it works great for
them or not using that. So I don’t think that matters. It’s frustrating as all
get out.

That’s a nice theory, except there are people in that WhatsApp group that I am
a part of for whom the app is working as it should. I agree that sending
something to Hulu and or Apple accessibility could be good. But the question
remains, why is it working for some of us and not for others? This is not
including the beta. I’m talking about people running most recent release of the
operating system and the Hulu app. It works for some and not for others which
makes zero sense.

I'd suspect this is more of an issue with the Hulu app then it is with the
operating system. Maybe if those of you who use the Hulu app will report these
issues to Hulu then you'll see some improvements in the future updates to the

I have the same issue apparently. I've not used this app in a while, but if
I flick right, I just get repeated options and detailsover and over. If I
drag my finger around the screen, I get some tv info, but it's not helpful.
I thought turning on screen recognition would change the behavior, but it

I wonder if it could be the voice you are using?

This is what seems to happen.

It is not reading the title on the screen like it is text' and this is why
I say this.

For each title, there is 2 buttons, go to details button, and view options
button.
As you swipe right down the screen, it reads the title when I land on the
next line, which is on the go to details button.
But if I swipe left up the screen, it says the title on the view options
button, which is the first thing that you land on when you go to a new
line.

Re: Hulu again

2020-12-02 Thread Chris Chaffin
Hi Mary,

I just opened the Hulu app, and was able to swipe down and hear all of the show
titles.
First, let me say that I am running ios 14.2 on an iPhone 11 Pro, and I am
using the default Samantha enhanced voice.

I wonder if it could be the voice you are using?

This is what seems to happen.

It is not reading the title on the screen like it is text' and this is why I
say this.

For each title, there is 2 buttons, go to details button, and view options
button.
As you swipe right down the screen, it reads the title when I land on the next
line, which is on the go to details button.
But if I swipe left up the screen, it says the title on the view options
button, which is the first thing that you land on when you go to a new line.

Chris

Hulu again

2020-12-02 Thread Mary Otten
I posted about the problem I was having regarding not seeing show titles in the
home tab of the Hulu app. I also put this out on a WhatsApp group I’m part of,
and three people there all say it works fine for them. One of them even
demonstrated it, and sure enough, you hear all the titles just like you’re
supposed to. But I have two devices where it does not work at all, I only see
details and more options rather than titles. Nobody can figure out in that
WhatsApp group what’s the difference between my phone and there’s. Are there
folks on here who have had this problem and fixed it?
