I have a password set up on my iPhone as well as the fingerprint ID the numbers
for the password are set up just like the phone numbers when you dial a phone
number the same same keypad layout so but if you have the capability of sending
the fingerprint and the password number I do both because I've had it where I
can voiceover got turned off and thus I couldn't tell what the numbers were for
the keypad I would let me turn voiceover on so I had my fingerprint to open up
the sting able to turn voiceover on so that is the reason why I would have both
because I've had to use it since the fingerprint thing started okay so this is
my two cents worth have a good day everybody

If you set up Voiceover to come on with a triple click of the home button then
this will work also in the lock screen. Same goes for SIRI, you can ask SIRI to
turn Voiceover off or on without unlocking your phone.

RE: I'm Tellin' You, Lock It Down

2015-04-17 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hi Wayne,

A 2-finger swipe from right to left will erase the last letter written with
handwriting and this does work in the lockscreen. I just deliberately tried
this by writing the first number of my passcode correctly, then I wrote a 3
where in fact the second number of my passcode should be a 5, I did a 2-finger
swipe from right to left, then wrote the 5 and the other 2 numbers of my
4-digit passcode and the phone unlocked. Voiceover gives correct feedback
during this, e.g. after I draw my first digit, Voiceover clicks and says 1
value. If I draw the second digit it clicks and says 2 values, if I do a
2-finger swipe right to left it again says 1 value indicating that I just
deleted the digit I wrote and so on.

Regards,
Sieghard

For those that are hesitant to enter their passcodes in public areas, you could
also enter them with either Braille screen input or handwriting input. I use
handwriting a lot to enter my passcode and mostly get the code right on the
first try. At least with handwriting, each number is not announced when I write
it in. I have never used Braille screen input, but it probably works the same
way. I do wish I knew of a gesture to erase the last thing entered with
handwriting, like you can do with braille input, but oh well. I've got several
chances to enter the passcode in correctly so it doesn't bother me.

Hi all,
I've tried entering my pass code by the braille input method and it works well.
This will now be my input method of choice as voiceover doesn't speak the

 Hello Everyone,

As I have posted, I support several people on both iOS and OSX as both
 clients and friends.

One of my friends, a fellow VoiceOver user, until now, has fervently
 refused
to setup either a Touch-ID or PIN on her iPhone 6, despite my suggestions
 to
the contrary. She said she thought it was too much trouble.

Today, she called me and told me that she, upon returning from a short
vacation with her family, accidentally left her phone in her sister's
 house,
 approximately 800 miles away.

While her sister will FedEx the phone back to her, my friend was afraid
 that
her sister would and, according to her, most likely did, snoop on her
 phone.

She truly laments not having taken the time to setup her Touch-ID and
 password.

I'm tellin' you, lock it down before it's too late (smile).

This is the method I'd choose but have only got a 4S at present so may go
with a pass code but not sure that its worth doing till I upgrade. Nobody
has told me yet whether you get a prompt when you have booted up so that you
can enter the password and what else can you do at that stage. Presumably
you can unlock the phone, or is it already unlocked, and you must be able to
turn the rotor so as to be brailling in a field, if that's what you want to
do. Perhaps someone could address these things. Thanks.

Hello Everyone,

As I have posted, I support several people on both iOS and OSX as both
clients and friends.

One of my friends, a fellow VoiceOver user, until now, has fervently
refused
to setup either a Touch-ID or PIN on her iPhone 6, despite my
suggestions

to
the contrary.

There is then a short delay when you can enter your passcode to unlock

If you waited too long to enter your passcode and the screen has locked, just

RE: I'm Tellin' You, Lock It Down

2015-04-16 Thread M. Taylor
Hello Teresa,

I am so sorry someone stole your property. That sounds absolutely horrible.

A couple of weeks ago, when carrying some groceries into the house, I left my
iPhone 6 Plus in the front seat of a friend's car who was waiting for me to
return to the car so we could continue running errands.

Upon entering the house, I realized that I had left my phone in the car. Prior
to Touch-ID/Pass Code, this would have caused me great concern as, while not
exactly a snoop, my friend might have let her curiosity get the better of her
and, quote, glanced, quote, at my phone (smile).

When I returned to the car, she handed me the phone saying, I did not try to
look at it.

To which I responded, Really? You mean you weren't tempted?

To which she replied, What's the point, you've got it on lock down. We both
laughed at that.

In addition to VoiceOver, I use the display a great deal but, when in waiting
rooms, standing in line, sitting in close proximity to others, say in the front
seat of a car, I turn on the screen curtain. Using the Screen Curtain brings
me great comfort, to put it mildly.

Say what you will about Apple but when they do it right, they do it better than
anyone.

Unfortunately this doesn't work with the Fongo app. That's a Canadian
VOIP app that uses 3G LTE or WIFI to make VOIP calls. I have to
unlock, tap on the notification at the top, then tap once on Answer.
Otherwise it's quite a good app if you're in an area with bad cell
reception but good WIFI and need an alternative.

Today, she called me and told me that she, upon returning from a short

While her sister will FedEx the phone back to her, my friend was afraid that

For those that are hesitant to enter their passcodes in public areas,
you could also enter them with either Braille screen input or
handwriting input. I use handwriting a lot to enter my passcode and
mostly get the code right on the first try. At least with handwriting,
each number is not announced when I write it in. I have never used
Braille screen input, but it probably works the same way. I do wish I
knew of a gesture to erase the last thing entered with handwriting,
like you can do with braille input, but oh well. I've got several
chances to enter the passcode in correctly so it doesn't bother me.

Why would your friend need your passcode? My wife knows my passcode
and she can also use her finger to unlock my phone, in case I cannot
enter it due to injury or the rare times that I am unresponsive. Other
than her, no one else needs access.

Re: I'm Tellin' You, Lock It Down

2015-04-16 Thread Christopher Chaltain
I think if anyone is worried about this then they should definitely be
careful. I find I'm quick enough with either the hand writing mode or
even just entering my passcode with the numeric keypad, that I doubt
anyone can pick up my passcode. Of course, if someone is hovering over
me often while I'm entering my passcode then I think I'd be suspicious.
Of course, someone would also have to get their hands on my iPhone even
if they were able to figure out my passcode.

each number is not announced when I write it in. I have never used
Braille screen input, but it probably works the same way. I do wish I
knew of a gesture to erase the last thing entered with handwriting,

Why would your friend need your passcode? My wife knows my passcode

enter it due to injury or the rare times that I am unresponsive. Other

I'm thinking you have to be able to do these without hearing what you've
written, but could you confirm this please.

Subject: I'm Tellin' You, Lock It Down
