Re: FaceTime question

2014-11-18 Thread Robert Doc Wright
My question deals with switching cameras. I was in a facetime video call
yesterday and I could not find how to switch to the back facing camera. I
tried double tapping where it said, front facing but nothing happened.

Does a two finger doubletap answer an incoming FaceTime call? Basic, I know,
but I really don't use FaceTime all that much; and, when I tried to use it
with my sister last night, we had no luck. So, I'm going to try again with
my brother tonight when I get home from work.

RE: FaceTime question

2014-11-17 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
You don't have to do that at all. A 2-finger double tap should work, if not the
Answer button is not that hard to find if you put your finger on the home key
and slide it up about an inch. Facetime in iOS 8 also now supports call
waiting. Prior to this if somebody called on the phone the Facetime call would
get interrupted, now just as when a second phone call comes in, you can put the
Facetime call on hold and answer the phone call, then go back to the Facetime
call. This is still one feature that is missing with Skype, but of course maybe
Apple won't allow this.

RE: FaceTime question

2014-11-17 Thread Vicky Collins
Thanks to all who responded in regards to answering a FaceTime
call. I tried again tonight with my brother and his wife, and we
couldn't get it to work, either, as the call would drop and then
say that the person was unavailable for FaceTime when I tried to
return the call. But, grin, they couldn't FaceTime each other,
either, and they talked about having internet problems in their
area. So, who knows. I could FaceTime with my brother and his
wife, as well as my sister, when I last tried, but that was well
before I got my iPhone 6 plus. Thus, just not sure where the
problem lies.

The problem is almost certainly their internet connection. If that is slow,
FaceTime will drop to a lower quality. If it is bad enough, the call drops,
just like a cellular call in a poor service area.

Hope this helps.

Hi Lori. Facetime is Apple's version of Skype basically. You can talk to anyone
using video and or audio if the other person has either an iDevice or Mac. HTH.

RE: Facetime Question

2014-02-19 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Keep in mind that as of iOS 7 one does not have to use video with Facetime,
it is possible to make an audio call only. I certainly don't always want
people to see me and if you are using cellular data or have a slow WiFi
connection as it often is the case in hotels or a public WiFi, Facetime
Audio is preferable as it uses less bandwidth.

You can FaceTime someone using their email address, assuming they've set
FaceTime to allow people to use that address to reach them. Go to
Settings/Facetime to set this up.

Facetime is a way to make video/audio calls between your Apple devices.
It's a native app on your iDevices. You can read more at
