I discovered a nifty feature the other day and think this is new to iOS 8. So long as the iMessage hasn't been delivered yet, flick up or down with one finger until you hear send as text message. Double tap and it will magically send it as a text message instead! I haven't had to worry about this particular issue, but couldn't you just send the text message to her cell phone number? If you use this and not her Apple ID, I'd think it would always go to her cell phone. Thats a good question. Here are some search results about this. If your iMessages didn't transmit as SMS when iMessage was unavailable for use 1. Go to Settings Messages Send as SMS and turn on Send as SMS. 2. Select your phone number when Sending iMessages in Settings Messages Send Receive Start New Conversations From. 3. Make sure that you can send SMS with Settings iMessage turned off. My partner has an iPad at home and an android phone she carries everywhere. If I want to text her and I know the iPad is at home switched off, it can be a bit of a struggle to ensure the message is not sent as an I message!!
