RE: Which Apple TV Offers Audio Description?
Hi, I have one of those but my Apple TV 3 would not stay awake on it and my cable box kept losing the connection on it. I have a Kineva 5 out 1 in HDMI switch box with remote. I don't know if the Apple TV 4 would work any better with it but the cable would still probably tend to lose the connection. I was thinking of looking for an optical to HDMI but I was looking for an excuse to lose this really poor sound bar and I also wasn't sure if audio would suffer if I used such an adapter if such a thing even exists. The major reason I'm even thinking of an Apple TV 4 is to play with Apple Music without dealing with airplay. -Original Message- From: viphone@googlegroups.com [mailto:viphone@googlegroups.com] On Behalf Of Sieghard Weitzel Sent: Saturday, March 5, 2016 5:01 PM To: viphone@googlegroups.com Subject: RE: Which Apple TV Offers Audio Description? However, you can get small HDMI switches with anywhere from 2 to 5 or maybe even 6 HDMI inputs and one output for Around $20 to $50. I have one of these in my office as I have 2 PC's hooked up to 2 of the 3 inputs and from the single output I am going to the HDMI input on my monitor. The switch has a button where you can cycle between the inputs as well as a little remote. It's also supposed to auto-sense which device is sending a signal and that works most of the time, but not always in which case I just push the button on the remote for either input 1 or 2. I also read that often the auto sensing doesn't work with the Apple TV boxes, but like I said, most of these things come with a simple, easy-to-use remote to select the input you want and it's an easy way to add HDMI ports to a TV or a SoundBar which only has one or two. It also illiminates the need to switch ports on the TV which might be a good thing if the TV isn't accessible and you have to remember the sequence of buttons to push to switch inputs. It isn't the apple tv that offers description, it is apps such as NetFlix, I am not sure any others offer it right now. -Original Message- From: hannah Sent: Sunday, February 21, 2016 2:40 AM To: viphone@googlegroups.com Subject: Re: Which Apple TV Offers Audio Description? Re: Which Apple TV Offers Audio Description?
The way I understand it is that the tv itself doesn't have audio description, but the app you use. As far as I know the netflix app gives you the option of audio description on available movies and tv shows. Not all programs even on netflix aren't available for dvs. I have the 4th gen apple tv which is the latest. Anyone is welcome to correct me if I'm wrong, or add to my coment.
