iPhone and Dish Anywhere App
Hi, I hope someone here uses the Dish Anywhere app on their iPhones and can answer the following questions. Is there a way to transfer recordings of shows directly to the iPhone? I'm going out of town and would love to be able to watch some of these TV shows I've recorded while flying. If not, what's a good way to get these recordings, if one needs to have airplane mode turned on when flying? Thanks much. -- The following information is important for all members of the V iPhone list. Re: The Dish Anywhere App
Hi Regina, Yes I know about the screen reader on Dish and I do use it in the living room but our 2 other tvs do not have the screen reader even though I was told when I called Dish to inquire about their service that we would have the screen reader functionality in every room with a tv. It is true that in the living room I can use the guide and it is very slow to go through all of the channels but I would like to be able to quickly view thee listings in an app because this would be much quicker. I am going to keep bugging Dish about the poor accessibility of their app until they decide that it would be better for them to just make it usable for all of their customers. Hello I too have dish and this is a complaint that I have about the service as well. Unfortunately unless you know the channel that the number is for there is no way to even know what channel you are watching. I did get a channel line up from dish and I have memorized the channels that I watch the most but I too would love to be able to see what is coming on without having to activate the channel. Re: Dish Anywhere app
Hey Shane I think it was just released but for the hopper to or hopper three you can now just hit the menu button twice and get text to speech options. It's apparently something new and you may even have to call dish if you have that receiver and have something push to you I've been told. Basically it's kind of like the guide for Comcast when you hit upper down it will tell you what's on the channel and you can go through the guide and also set your DVR and player DVR from your remote. Hi Joseph, I use the Dish Anywhere app on a pretty frequent basis, and find it to be very accessible. I can't set and delete my DVR recordings, as well as watch them on my phone or on the TV. I had to get someone to tell me what the unlabeled buttons were to fast forward, Paws, and Rewind but I've then labeled them and all works as it should. They have a hopper out now that Reed's various menus while you're scrolling around using the remote? How does this text to speech work? I didn't know they had one out there that would do this. Shane. Re: Dish Anywhere app
Is the dish anywhere app pretty accessible? I'm thinking about changing since the hopper now has text to speech. Not sure Time Warner cable will get a talking box anytime soon. I don't hear much talk about this dish anywhere application so just wanted to make sure things would be accessible? Re: Dish Anywhere app
Hi Steve, When you are in the list of episodes for a particular show, scroll down the screen, and you'll find a radio button that says show all. Check this radio button, and then scroll down a little more, and you'll hear something like season 2 episode 4, or something to that effect. Then you can tap on that particular episode, and begin watching. Hope this helps, Shane. Dish Anywhere App?
Hi again, I did some more research on the whole Dish Network thing and wondered if anyone here has used the Dish Anywhere app with their iDevices, and with VoiceOver. Any tips would be appreciated because I've had to switch from Direct to Dish and I want to be able to use it. Re: Dish Anywhere App?
Hi Jim, Yes, I also too have Dish, and I have the app installed on my iPad. When I had my iPhone, was also installed on there, I'll try to answer your questions as best I can. First of all, it is accessible, and you can schedule and delete recordings from the app using VO, however, there are some inaccessible parts of the app which I'll explain… The guide, it's totally inaccessible, and for the last year, I've complained to Dish about this on and off, but nothing has been done to fix this. So to work around this, I use the TV Guide mobile app, which I find to be very useful… The on demand section of the app is totally accessible, the number pad where you can type in a specific number to watch on your device, is also excessable. Now, in earlier versions, you could set the recording, a pop-up menu would appear asking do you want to record this, new shows, or everything, you can choose which one, and from there it will record. However, with later versions, I believe such as the current one, the pop-up menu appears, but it's not read out for some reason. But you can try that out, and see just to be sure. I hope I was able to help out with some of your questions, feel free Sent to ask, if you have more.
