RE: How in the world does anyone use Ok Google on an iPhone

2016-08-06 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hi Brian,

You may just simply put a finger over the speaker port at the bottom right of
the phone before you say "OK Google". Voiceover on my 6S Plus also says
"Cancel", but it just doesn't seem to make a difference, I just wait a moment
until it's done saying "Cancel" and then ask my question. Of course turning
Voiceover off with a 3-finger double tap does solve this and also avoids
Voiceover speaking at the same time when Google self-voices an answer to your
question.

Regards,
Sieghard

Thanks for all the feedback. Thanks Sieghard unfortunately I had my settings
just like you had mentioned and still getting the cancel before saying anything
which then leads to only getting results half the time. Guess this is why I do
not use Google for anything much anymore. Thanks again.

The problem is not that it won't work, but that Voice Over says cancel button,
after the chimes go off and google is waiting for the question. When voice over
says cancel button, it confuses google. I just turn speech off with the
three-finger double tap, before saying hey google, and things are fine.

RE: How in the world does anyone use Ok Google on an iPhone

2016-08-06 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
I just tried it and it seems to work fine although when Voiceover is on it
sometimes says something like "search" which can interfere with Google's spoken
answer.
For Brian, did you make sure you logged in with your Google account and went to
Settings > Voice Search and turned on spoken answers and to use "OK Google" to
start the search?

I've found the Google app to be inconsistent in starting with the okay Google
command. I didn't know that this inconsistency was due to VoiceOver since it
usually works for me after my first successful search. I do my first search by
placing focus in the box where you normally type your search terms, swiping
right once and moving to the voice search control, and then double tapping.
Google will sound a sort of chime indicating it's waiting for your voice
command and it works fine. It is an extra step instead of saying okay Google
but it is much easier than turning VoiceOver off. The okay Google usually works
for me after I've done my first search with the voice search control.

Good luck.

Re: How in the world does anyone use Ok Google on an iPhone

2016-08-06 Thread Casey

Hi just A suggestion.
When using google voice search on the iPhone.
Try saying okay google instead of hey google.
I use okay google and it works every time.
Just A suggestion but give it A try and let us know if that works better
for you.

Re: How in the world does anyone use Ok Google on an iPhone

2016-08-05 Thread Arnold Schmidt
It may be a little more trouble, but simply use the three-finger double tap to
turn speech off just before you say hey google, then turn it back on afterward.
This cancel button pronouncement has been going on for a while now, I am long
since use to it. My problem is that, maybe 25 percent of the time, hey google
doesn't trigger anything at all, and I have to turn speech on, find the voice
search button, and tap it, to do my search.

Would love to hear why people love this app and how they use it? If I have to
