Re: Preparing for face ID as a new user.
For me, Face ID is pretty reliable and easy. I don't get perfect scans every time, but it's no big deal for me to enter my pass code since i use Braille Screen Input, or touch the numbers on the keypad. I won't argue that Touch ID is perhaps quicker, but Face ID is not as bad as many think. The times when I don't get good scans are usually overnight when I wear my sleep mask, or when my phone is angled wrong or I am not looking directly at it. It does get frustrating to enter the pass code every so often, but again, not a deal breaker. Also, I can use Face ID when my fingers are not clean, which is harder to do with Touch ID. The hardest thing for me about Face ID is initially setting it up on my own. I have no issues with scanning my head to enter my face, but I do have issues with positioning the phone. Once I get help to position the phone, getting my face entered is pretty easy. I also find the newer VoiceOver gestures pretty reliable. NO, they don't work every time for me, but usually they don't work when I try to slide my finger too fast. When I slow down, I can get to work every time. To each their own though. Oh yes, Touch to wake, and also Shake to Undo. RE: Preparing for face ID as a new user.
Just curious, why would you not buy a regular 12 with a 6.1 inch screen, still larger than your current 5.5 inch screen of your 6S Plus. In fact, you could buy an iPhone 11 which would cost youless than half of what the 12 Pro would cost and then when Apple releases their phones next year or the year after that and they include both in-display Touch Id and Face Id you can get one of them and sell your ipHone 11. -Original Message- From: viphone@googlegroups.com On Behalf Of Matthew Bullis Sent: Thursday, October 15, 2020 11:14 PM To: viphone@googlegroups.com Subject: Preparing for face ID as a new user. The quickest way to find it is at the top of the main settings screen, there is a search box. Type the words tap to wake in there and it should come up first. Preparing for face ID as a new user.
Hello, so I've held onto my 6s plus for five years, since I had a bunch of music and books on it. I'm planning on upgrading to the 12 max, since I want the long battery life and the screen size for braille screen input. I'll be upset if touch ID comes back in a phone in the next year, because I will have spent money in this phone, but oh well. My main question is about the lock screen. From working with the phones of the students I teach, I'm comfortable with the gesture of press, slide, and lift to do the home and other things, but was checking on a few other things. I understand that you won't accidentally buy something just when you face towards the phone, because you need to click the side button twice, but will it stay on the lock screen while you're flipping through your notifications until you actually perform the home gesture? If you tap on a notification, I'm assuming you'll need to perform the home gesture to activate that part, then another home gesture to come out to the main screen? Is that correct?
