hello Mark, What is your hessatation to upgrade to iOS 14? I’ve been using it when the first public beta was released. No major problems with it’s current version, iOS 14.7.1. You have to write the individual app developers as they are the ones who have to make sure their apps are compatible with the version of iOS they say works. Hi Everyone, I am delighted to report the following: About an hour or so, ago, I noticed that the Audible listing in the app store had been updated to state that the latest version requires iOS 14 or higher. I also noticed that the size of the download file has increased by a third. I took this as a good sign. So, I then selected the re-download option as I had done countless times during the past 24-hours (smile) and, after being told that iOS 14 was required to run the latest version, to my delight, I was prompted to download an older version of the app. I said "OK" to the prompt and version 5.40 of Audible was successfully installed on my beloved iPhone 8 Plus running iOS 13.7. A little while ago, I received another email from Audible stating that they had contacted Apple and that the problem had been resolved and that I should go ahead and attempt to re-download the app. According to Audible, the problem had something to do with Apple but, whatever the case, it has been resolved. On an iTunes for Windows 7 note: I successfully installed iTunes 12.10.11.2 on my PC. After having done so, I made my first iTunes backup of my phone in over a year as it had been that long since the backup feature had failed in iTunes 12.6. Of course, I have iCloud backups of all of my devices but I much prefer a encrypted computer backup to iCloud, if given a choice. Finally, a happy ending (big smile). As you may have read, I have had four apps over the last two days that wouldn't update on my IPhone 6, so I do not believe it is specific to the audible app. One of them, Shazam, is an apple product, so for sure, it ought to have updated, it won't. You are running 14.7.1. There is no problem with that version, it is those earlier than 14. I had just reset network settings over the weekend, I just did it again, just to be sure, with the same results. Remember, it is not just Audible, it is four apps over the last two days. I don't remember what two of them were, I deleted them. The fourth one, Shazam, will still work with the version that was on my phone, but it will not update. I probably will write Apple Support later today. According to the app store, the audible app is supported on devices running IOS 11 & newer. Have you tried resetting network settings & try downloading audible again? I don't use my IPhone 6, running 12.5.4 a lot now, but I have been keeping it updated. But over the last two days, there have been four apps, Audible, Shazam, I do not remember the other two, that had updates that would not install. At the time, I just surmised that 12.5.4 was just too old to run them, but I wondered why I was offered the updates at all. When I would go back to these apps, it would say recently updated, but they wouldn't run. When my IPhone 5 was at the point in its lipe my 6 is now, I simply was not offered the update. While Amazon owns Audible, the Amazon app or, for that matter, the Amazon website is completely independent from the Audible app and website. As others have pointed out, you can only purchase books for credits or cash on the Audible website and you can do that on the iPhone using Safari and going to www.Audible.com or by going to the website using a PC and your browser of choice. My understanding is that by purchasing the book from an app on your phone would send too large a percentage of the price over to Apple, so Amazon doesn't allow this. Others who've done this more recently on their iPhones will probably weigh in shortly though. Problem with the Audible app
I am trying to purchase a book on audible, but it keeps telling me that this app does not support purchasing, and to add it to my Wishlist. I also get the same message from the Amazon app. Do I need to download a different app? Or do I need to purchase it from my computer?
