Remind me of what the purposes of direct touch and screen recognition are. I
think direct touch may be the cause of some odd behavior I have been having

Well, that's what's doing it, when you lock the screen. I accidentally did that
to my dad the other day. I hit the LockScreen

I will assume that you have restarted your phone and that didn't fix it. Also,
if you haven't already, reset network settings. Other than these, it sounds to
