I think that the iPhone uses the top mic for listening to what you dictate. I get much better and more accurate results when I speak into that part of the phone. And I notice that I get better results when I use the actual dictate button on the keyboard instead of the two finger double tap to start and restart dictation. On 9/26/2018 11:20 AM, M. Re: Inaccurate Dictation, only in I-message
The only other observation that I have, and I truly do not know the answer, is that I also have an iPad connected with the same Apple ID, and dictation is almost always perfect. Plus, on other iPhone8's that I have tried, the dictation is almost always flawless. There is just some variable, either on the local device, or somewhere in the cloud, that is affecting these outcomes. My dictation could also be very frustrating and very inaccurate in any apps that I use.itwith. If I use dictation in a quiet room with no other sounds heard or music playing. It usually works just fine under these circumstances. I thought that in this latest update Applewould improve Siri however I guess they haven’t. I have an iPhone 10 and I have the same problem. I am very disappointed with the dictation feature.
