Well I did allow it to use the camera first time I tried to use it.
Hopefully the next update will fix it. Meanwhile I have to find a battery
for my old stand-alone light detector

I think this might just be another bug in iOS 8. I read that this one also
affects sighted users and it seems that some apps just randomly can't access
the camera

allowed to use the Camera and of course they have to use the camera in order
to work. Go to Settings, Privacy and Camera, then check if they are allowed

Both Light Detector and Money Reader are allowed to access the
camera. Also Omoby, which doesn't work either. But the flash
doesn't activate, no matter whether it is set to auto or on.
