Dave, if either one of us have something that might help that we haven't
heard anyone suggest yet, we would happily add to the thread to hopefully
lead to a solution. Carolyn will know when she'll need to either call apple
accessibility line or go to the apple store, as she's not one to give up and
she's been doing her best to try all the possible solutions given to her by
other members. She's probably coming very close to a solution soon. There's
nothing like the assistance given to one another on this group, so thanks to

Hi Carolyn,

A simple question you may have answered already,

If you toggle the mute switch on the side of the phone Does your phone vibrate
at all?

This is the little toggle above the volumes?

If this is not vibrating or causing your phoen to vibrate, I'd be inclined to

Yay, Carolyn, we're so happy for you. That's got to be such a relief that your
phone is working right again. It's so strange when you think about it, it
happens with our computers, and even our phones, where things get strange. Then
rebooting the computer or phone makes all the difference in the world. I've
even had things get strange on a few of the flip phones.
And as a bonus, Dave will be relieved too. Wayne is saying No seriously, I've

I have called Apple twice, got company while waiting yesterday, got cut off
today after ten-minute wait then got connected. Then, all of a sudden, dial
tone. I called on another phone, so we'd have my phone to work with.

I wonder when the best time is to call them. Yesterday, I called around 6 in
the afternoon, and today I called at 12:10 PM.

Hi, i'm not sure if this has been tried, but doing a reset all settings; by
going to;
Settings/general/reset/ and tap on reset all settings may help resolve the
issue as it looks like a software glitch, and doing a simple reset usually
fixes these glitches; no harm giving it a try;

RE: Phone does not vibrate on ring.

2020-06-25 Thread Simon A Fogarty
And dave you're right that different people have said the same thing, which
makes it seem like we're going around in circles,
But we all live in different parts of the world,
Different time zones and therefore different reading / replying times.

I don’t' read by conversation or most recent to oldest email so I don't see
what was last said,
I read from the start and reply to / with what I know and can offer.

It's all about the helping one and other,

Everyone tries to give their ideas / thoughts and if they don't work then it's
up to the person asking the question to say
Hey I'm going to for get this and take the issue elsewhere.

In cases like this I just wish I had access to an apple store,

Dave, if either one of us have something that might help that we haven't heard
anyone suggest yet, we would happily add to the thread to hopefully lead to a
solution. Carolyn will know when she'll need to either call apple accessibility
line or go to the apple store, as she's not one to give up and she's been doing
her best to try all the possible solutions given to her by other members. She's
probably coming very close to a solution soon. There's nothing like the
assistance given to one another on this group, so thanks to everyone that
reaches out for the most easiest solution that hadn't been thought of or the
easiest solution the person wasn't aware of that makes them wonder why they
didn't think of that, to the most puzzling situation.

Simon. The advice given, by many members, is going full circle.

Surely the next step, is apple accessibility?

I am all for helping people. But there is only so much members can say, before
it is time to contact the professionals.

As another member said. Apple accessibility, is open 24 hours.

I wonder when the best time is to call them. Yesterday, I called around 6 in

Wayne is saying No seriously, I've

that's so true, it does take a lot of patience, I've seen Wayne work on these

Hi Carolyn,

A simple question you may have answered already,

If you toggle the mute switch on the side of the phone Does your phone vibrate
at all?

This is the little toggle above the volumes?

If this is not vibrating or causing your phoen to vibrate, I'd be inclined to
take your phone back to a store and talk to them about it

RE: Phone does not vibrate on ring.

2020-06-25 Thread Carolyn
Thanks, Simon, I believe with Mute that it does. The phone is charging in the
other room. Apple Accessibility thinks it is because I had my phone set on
Lower Power for my battery, and he did not think it would vibrate on ring again
until after a charge. It was in the low 60's, when he and I talked, so when I
got off, I put it on the charger.

I have the latest version of IOS so you go to settings, go to sounds. The first
thing you come to as you swipe to the right is vibrate and to the right of
that, it says vibrate on ring. If you want that selected, double tap on that. I
have the IOS 6S plus. Some people say their phone says sounds and haptics but
mine only says sounds but so far as I know, everything else works the same.

Re: Phone does not vibrate on ring.

2020-06-25 Thread Arlene
Dave, You want what all of us want, for Carolyn's troubles to be solved with
this situation. And if only either you, or my Wayne and some other really
knowledgible helpful members here could sit by Carolyn and have her phone
in hand anyone of you might be the one to solve this issue and get it
cleared up, and she would be most appreciative, and learning from you what
went wrong. While I believe that Carolyn is coming closer to a solution or
another direction to go through, with all the things she's tried, if the
last few things to try that were given this morning don't solve the
situation she'll most likely try calling apple accessibility and better yet
going to the apple store, if the accessibility department can't help her.
There's always the possibility to offer to see if you could help her on a
phone call. You and all of us have been clued to this thread, and there's
nothing more than all of us want for this issue to be solved for her, and
who knows possibly in the future if someone has the same trouble, Carolyn or
anyone of us can tell the person how to solve it, of course especially
Carolyn. Sometimes it takes more time to get to that solution than we'd like
since none of us are there in person, but the assist given on this group is
wonderful. As I said Carolyn is persistant, patiently trying all
suggestions, and that has to be admired. I don't get a poor impression of
you, I knew from your first message that you wanted what we all want for
Carolyn, and what Carolyn most wants.

Hi Arlene. I total agree with you.

But i have been monitoring the thread. And it seems like, every suggestion,
has been tried, and failed.

I would dearly love, to get my hands on Carolyn's phone, and take a look at
her settings, and sort it out for her. But obviously, that wouldn't be
possible. Or even, talk Carolyn through it over the phone.

I just think her best bet, would be apple accessibility.

So please don't think, that i am being thoughtless. I just want the best and
quickest option for her.

All the best,

Dave.

There's
nothing like the assistance given to one another on this group, so thanks to
everyone that reaches out for the most easiest solution that hadn't been
thought of or the easiest solution the person wasn't aware of that makes
them wonder why they didn't think of that, to the most puzzling situation.

If these things have already been suggested, I apologize but if these are
already done and the phone does not vibrate, there is a problem which no one
on this list is likely to solve.

Under Sounds and Haptics:
Make sure that vibrate on ring is "ON"
Make sure that system haptics is "ON"

Under Accessibility/audio/sounds and haptics:
Swipe down until you hear "haptic intensity and adjust the percentage.

I wonder when the best time is to call them. Yesterday, I called around 6 in

Re: Phone does not vibrate on ring.

2020-06-25 Thread Arlene
In all the years that I've been working with all these software driven
electronics, I've seen all kinds of strange things happen. What I'm getting
ready to ask you to try may make little to no sense. So here it goes,

go into ring with vibration setting
if it's on turn it off.
then reboot your phone.
go back into the ring with vibration setting
at this point it should be off. Turn it back on. Hopefully that will resolve
your issue, however, if it does not 2 more things to do.
reboot the iPhone again, if it's still not working, well, my next step
would be go to the nearest apple store. since you've tried just about
everything, and hung in there, Carolyn, I hope it all works out.

I don't have a problem with this thread, but if others are finding any thread
too long, I'd suggest checking out an email client that supports threads. I
know the native app on the iPhone does, but with the focus problem in that app,
I prefer Outlook, which also has a threaded option.

Look in Settings, then Sounds.
The first heading in Sounds is Vibrate.
The first entry under the heading is "Vibrate on ring". Make sure this is

I wonder when the best time is to call them. Yesterday, I called around 6 in
the afternoon, and today I called at 12:10 PM.

Have you made shure that vibrate with buttens is on? That might also help.
You should have it vibrate on ring when you dubble tap though it should vibrate
wile it is ringing. From Mich.

Everything is on in Sounds and Haptics. It all works, except for Vibrate on
Ring. I thought there was a place, where you could choose stronger or weaker
vibration too, but I have not found that in General or Accessibility, and, of
course, Sounds and Haptics.

Hello Carolyn,
After double tapping on sounds, flick to the right and double tap on ring tone.
Following that, see if there is a vibration setting there.

Everything is on in Sounds and Haptics. It all works, except for Vibrate on

of course, Sounds and Haptics.

Look in Settings, then Sounds.
The first heading in Sounds is Vibrate.
The first entry under the heading is "Vibrate on ring". Make sure this is on.

RE: Phone does not vibrate on ring.

2020-06-24 Thread Carolyn
Everything is on in Sounds and Haptics. It all works, except for Vibrate on
Ring. I thought there was a place, where you could choose stronger or weaker
vibration too, but I have not found that in General or Accessibility, and, of
course, Sounds and Haptics.

Hello Carolyn,

Following that, see if there is a vibration setting there.

Go to accessibility. Swipe right until you get to touch. Double tap on touch
and then you will swipe to the right past shake to undo and it says vibration
on or off. If yours is off, double tap to on. Again, I am using the latest
update with an iPhone 6S plus but it wouldn't hurt to try this. So far I have
gotten all the updates.

Re: Phone does not vibrate on ring.

2020-06-24 Thread Shirley Baker
I have the latest version of IOS so you go to settings, go to sounds. The first
thing you come to as you swipe to the right is vibrate and to the right of
that, it says vibrate on ring. If you want that selected, double tap on that. I
have the IOS 6S plus. Some people say their phone says sounds and haptics but
mine only says sounds but so far as I know, everything else works the same.

RE: Phone does not vibrate on ring.

2020-06-23 Thread Rob Armstrong
I still use iOS 12.4. Settings may have changed in iOS 13.

Look in Settings, then Sounds.
The first heading in Sounds is Vibrate.
The first entry under the heading is "Vibrate on ring". Make sure this is on.

Rob

Subject says it all. My phone does not vibrate on ring.

I have gone into Settings, into Sounds and Haptics, says Vibrate is on. I went
to General to see if I could find anything about it. I went to Accessibility.
So, I am missing something somewhere. Could someone please tell me where to go
to get my vibrations set?
Thanks.

Hello Carolyn,
After double tapping on sounds, flick to the right and double tap on
ring tone. Following that, see if there is a vibration setting there.

RE: Phone does not vibrate on ring.

2020-06-23 Thread Carolyn
I did that, and it was on, so I turned it off, then back on. No change. Thanks.
I also thought you could increase Vibration, but I saw no choice there. Thanks.
