I’m not sure how that happened as I usually make sure I am top posting when I

If you read beyond Alan’s question that you replied to, you will find my answer
that says much the same as
Hello Richard. Place your finger at the very bottom of the screen and slide up
until you hear 3 ascending tones which will open the App Switcher. Sliding up
from the bottom with two tones is equivalent to the home key
Starting at the top of the screen and sliding down to tones will give you

I gather you can do the gesture to unlock the phone.
Instead of lifting your finger when you do to unlock it, keep slccding until
you get about to the level of the power switch and lift and you should have the
app switcher.

I'm not a fan of the default gesture to go home and to the app switcher on
iPhones without a home button. I'm often not hearing the opening blip when
starting the single finger slide from the bottom of the screen. I use the App
switcher constantly so I went to Settings,
Esther, on phones 10 and up, to go to the App Switcher, swipe up from bottom of
screen until you hear two pops. You are there then. You slide up with three
fingers to close programs. That is it.
