I had tried that without success. See my earlier e-mail concerning turning off the me address to solve the problem. Someone else said that the address would not consistently remain turned off. I haven’t encountered that problem yet. I’ll keep this thread around in case I get into trouble

I finally solved it. Apparently, the option to alter the Sender address is at the very bottom under Settings, Mail, Accounts, iCloud. Apparently, my me.com address was turned ON. turning it off left the iCloud address partially dimmed but turned on. I've subsequently tested by sending a
