Richard, that is what happened to me when I first got my SE, really drained the battery just playing cards. I am surprised at how easy it is to get used to not having a Home Button. I don't think that they'll ever come back, even if they come out with a new SE - they occupy screen space. -Original Message- From: viphone@googlegroups.com [mailto:viphone@googlegroups.com] On Behalf Of Richard Turner Sent: Friday, January 3, 2020 11:17 PM To: viphone@googlegroups.com Subject: Re: Where do you go to check if Raise to wake is on or off, please? Re: Where do you go to check if Raise to wake is on or off, please?
Go to settings and swipe right until you hear display brightness, double tap and you swipe until you hear raise to wake and it will say whether it is on or off. RE: Raise to wake or not
Hi Liz, Gordon already provided the correct answer, but also for those who might forget where to find a particular Setting I wanted to mention the often forgotten search box at the top of Settings. If you type a word into this search box which is related to the feature/setting you are looking for then very often it will show you what you are trying to find. Voiceover will read the results and in each case it will also tell you where the particular setting is located. This is the same feature you now find in Windows 10 when you open the Settings app there or, if you are a Jaws user, if you use Jaws Key+6 to go to the Jaws Settings Centre. In this particular case, if you type "raise" into the search box the only result you get is "Raise to Wake" and this is followed by "Display and Brightness". Therefore you now know that the Raise to Wake setting is found in Display and Brightness, but you can also double tap on the result and it opens up the Display and Bright ness category and then all you have to do is swipe to Raise to Wake to turn it on or off. If you had typed "wake" you would have been presented with 3 results: 1. Raise to Wake, Display and Brightness - again the result we wanted in this case 2. Click Wake/Sleep 3 times, Emergency S O S 3. Click Wake/Sleep 5 times, Emergency S O S Interestingly enough when you double tap on either Click Wake/Sleep 3 times or Click Wake/Sleep 5 times you are taken to the Emergency S O S section each time as indicated, but the only setting in there is the one where you click 5 tyimes to quickly initiate a call to emergency services, 9 1 1 in North America. I have no idea why there is the other result about clicking it 3 times. But anyways, it did find both settings which have the word "wake" in them. I often find that using this search box as well as the item chooser (2-finger triple tap) are often forgotten or overlooked features which are very useful.
