I want to send a once off sms to get my cell contract upgrade date. My common
knowledge tells me to go to messages, then compose. When I activate compose I
land in an edit field which says to if I swipe to the right there is indeed a
text message field. When I swipe back to the right
Just type the number where you want to send the message into the To field, then
swipe right to the message field and double tap on it to enter editing mode.
Type your message and tap Send.

This is very strange. I do just what you say: I go to messages, double tap on
compose then I land in the to field. I type the number 31050. When I then
swipe to the right once, I hear add to contacts one more swipe says 1 which
is the 1 on the keyboard. There is no other text field

I just tried it with the number you have to send it to and I can swipe to the
text field for the message. Maybe try to touch the screen and find the field
rather than swiping. You could always try to write your text first, then find
the To field and put in the number. I assume you

In the below, you only ever swiped to the right, you have to swipe to the
left to go back up the options, like back to the To: field. Or put finger
right back at top of the screen, then flick right and go down again from the
top.
