I am still using IOS 7.0.6 and I did not update to IOS 7.1 as there was a
Bluetooth keyboard issue. Now that IOS 7.1.1 is out and the Bluetooth
keyboard issue is fix I want to update to the new version. Since I do not
have version 7.1 on my iPad will I have to download that

It does and that's what will happen. You will wind up installing the
latest iOS that's publicly available skipping the last update entirely
if that makes sense.

I just installed the update this morning and the external volume buttons don’t
seem to be working to change volume of VO or Bard, at least. Is anyone else
having that problem?

That's strange. I didn't have this problem at all. You might try shutting down
your phone and rebooting and see if that fixes it.

I'm downloading it now. It looks like it's an SSL security update, so I'd be
surprised if there are any changes in VO. Since it's a security update, I'm

IOS 7.0.5 was only made available in a few regions, and it was only for
a few models. I looked it up when it was discussed on this list, so you
shouldn't have any trouble googling for more information, if you're
