RE: iPhone Plus, Definitely Heating It Up: Mark is Taking a Pass on iPhone 15 Series

2023-10-16 Thread Loreal Lavigna
I'll take an iPhone 15ProMax too LOL!! I love my iPhone 14ProMax though,
so I think I'll work with that for a while. At least until my device is more
than 50% paid off and I can do a straight upgrade through Apple. I love what
Apple is doing right now. From here on out I won't be getting my phones
directly from the carrier but will instead be going through Apple themselves.
I make out better that way.

Hi,

I have both a 15 Pro and a 15 Pro Max and so far no activities have caused them
to get any warmer than prior devices I've owned. I may perceive the warmth it
exhibits during charging with the 240 watt USB-C cable with Apple's 30 watt
charger to be slightly more so than other prior devices have exhibited but
nothing that would cause me to be overly concerned and I am one who literally
loathes when a device heats up so I would be prone to reacting to such a
perception or reality.

Just chiming in with my experiences for the sake of sharing I'm not in any way
seeking to minimize or invalidate the experiences of others merely reporting
that which I've noted thus far.

Take good care,

Robin

Sieghard, You are correct that the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus do not have titanium frames. Only the 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max have those. Alan Lemly Sent from my iPhoneOn Oct 12, 2023, at 11:34 PM, Sieghard Weitzel wrote:

Of course it's also beyond me why if  you have an iPhone 14 Pro Max you would buy a 15 Plus which has the exact same chip, it lacks the LiDAR sensor your 14 Pro Max has and as far as I can tell all you get is an action button to which
you can map one single function and you have a USB-C port instead of a Lightning port.
Of course if you decide you don't want it any more you can send it to me, it is starting to get cold up here in Northern British Columbia and this may make a nice hand warmer

RE: iPhone Plus, Definitely Heating It Up: Mark is Taking a Pass on iPhone 15 Series

2023-10-13 Thread Loreal Lavigna
Hi Mark,

I don't know if you yourself are using the beta of iOS17, but I just updated it
yesterday to 17.1 Beta 3, the most current release. This release apparently is
supposed to have fixed much of the issues with iPhone 15 models heating up.
I'm running the beta software on my iPhone 14ProMax. I'll look at the iPhone
15 or iPhone 16 models within the next year or so.

I will say though, the beta for me has performed exceptionally well on my
iPhone 14ProMax. This may be off the subject of this thread, but I have to say
the newest update to the Facebook app has done away with something that has
been an annoyance for me for forever... When in the notifications tab on the FB
app and swiping through the notifications, there was always a "notification
options" button which you had to swipe past in order to go to the next
notification. Now I am ecstatic to report that's no longer an annoyance for
me!!!

Hello All,

Well, I have been working with a 15 Plus for over a week. I have truly been
putting it through it proverbial paces and I can tell you that the device heats
up far faster and far warmer than does my beloved 14 Pro Max.

It's really quite interesting as I understand that the 15 Plus is just a 14
series inside that titanium case. Is this true?

Regardless, with only a screen protector installed and using a cheap $10 case I
purchased at the Apple store, using the device for any uninterrupted length of
time when performing longer tasks such as performing system restores, lengthy
GPS navigation, App updates (over 30 or so at a time) the phone really heats
up. I'm not saying it is heating to a dangerous level but I am saying that it
is heating up so much and so fast that I have decided to not purchase a 15 Pro
Max, this year.

Of course I am comparing the 15 Plus with my beloved 14 Pro Max with the same
level of screen brightness.

Okay, just thought I would pass this along.

Keep in mind, this is just my experience: Your milage may vary.

I hope you are all doing well.

Mark

I'll stick with an otterbox case for my iPhone. They give great
protection. I currently have the otterbox commuter case on my 13 pro
max. I used to have the otterbox defender case, but somehow lost it.
I'll have to purchase another case.

2023-10-13 Thread Lynn Schneider
Yesterday, while using the Bing app, I was notified by my iPhone 15 Pro that it
would need to stop charging until it was able to cool down. This was the first
time this happened and it occurred after installing the update to iOS 17 which
was supposed to address this problem. I do know that, even on my previous 13
pro, the Bing app would seem to make my phone pretty warm, but never so much
that it had to pause charging. I have a case which protects the side and back
of the phone, but I have nothing covering the screen. The case has many
openings that should let heat dissipate, as it is basically just a thin case
protecting the back and sides of the phone. while this episode was the first
and only such occurrence, I am hoping this will not present a significant
problem in the future, as I am very excited about this phone and have never
needed any kind of servicing for my previous iPhones. I do wonder if there is
some kind of association with certain apps, but I really hope this can be
addressed without Apple having to throttle the software to keep it from
overheating.

I don't think the regular iPhone 15 and 15 Plus have Titanium frames, but of
course I could be wrong.
Of course it's also beyond me why if you have an iPhone 14 Pro Max you would
buy a 15 Plus which has the exact same chip, it lacks the LiDAR sensor your 14
Pro Max has and as far as I can tell all you get is an action button to which
you can map one single function and you have a USB-C port instead of a
Lightning port.
Of course if you decide you don't want it any more you can send it to me, it is
starting to get cold up here in Northern British Columbia and this may make a
nice hand warmer 藍

Subject: iPhone Plus, Definitely Heating It Up: Mark is Taking a Pass on iPhone
15 Series

Mark

RE: iPhone Plus, Definitely Heating It Up: Mark is Taking a Pass on iPhone 15 Series

2023-10-12 Thread Sieghard Weitzel

15 Series

Robin

If you have the 14 pro max nothing wrong with waiting, but yeah that
issue was suppose to be fixed in an update.
