Re: tap tap c and seeing a i
When the Giraffe stand was new, I bought one to test for my work. It is a good concept, that only fits one phone size at a time; i.e. you cannot adjust it if you get a bigger phone you have to buy another stand, at a stupidly high price. If you want an excellent cardboard stand, the ScannerBin is great for $12.50 at Amazon. I have info about it on my web site under the scanning stands heading. www.turner42.com Richard “What we think or what we know or what we believe is in the end of little consequence. RE: tap tap c and seeing a i
You always have to line up your camera no matter which app you use. Seeing AI has barcode recognition, but I don't think it's as good as Tap Tap See with straight object recognition. Here is an example: With Tap Tap See I can put a can of Coke or Ginger Ale on the counter and simply take a picture of it and chances are that it will recognize it. With Seeing AI you would have to find the barcode at least as far as I know and everything I have tried with Seeing AI was when I scanned the barcode. Tap Tap See looks at the entire picture, the colours, the writing and it compares it to its data base of objects and it works quite well especially for popular products. -Original Message- From: 'Pat Marshall' via VIPhone Sent: November 19, 2021 10:09 AM To: si...@blinky-net.com; viphone@googlegroups.com Subject: RE: tap tap c and seeing a i Yes Tap Tap see is useful for simple things but the problem is lining your camera up to the required article or say a tin of something or bottle of something? RE: tap tap c and seeing a i
HI Pat, The best thing to do is the same thing that the old joke says when a person asks "how do I get to Carnegie Hall" and the response is , "practice, practice, practice." Seeing AI can give you more information to help with text recognition. However, for objects, learning how to get the camera so it catches the whole object is critical, whether using Seeing AI scene preview, or TapTapSee. IN Judy Dixon's book, Capturing and Sharing the World, one key tip is to hold the camera as far from the object as the object is tall. So, if it is 4 inches tall, you want to be at least 4 inches away. A couple more is fine for good measure. If you have someone you could call using FaceTime who could give you live pointers when you have the back camera pointed so it gets the whole object, that would be helpful. I hope that is helpful. RE: tap tap c and seeing a i
What are you trying to do? Seeing AI I personally find pretty straight forward, but it really depends on which channel you are using since many of them don't even require you to take a photo. Documents does, but short text, product/barcode, light, currency, all of that is done on the fly and there is always a back button in situations where it's needed. -Original Message- From: 'Pat Marshall' via VIPhone Sent: November 18, 2021 10:52 AM To: viphone@googlegroups.com viphone@googlegroups.com Subject: tap tap c and seeing a i Hi, can someone advise me the above apps. I think voice dream scanner is great for reading the computer screen and other text. Very quick and accurate. It is not free, but worth the $6 or so that it costs. -- The following information is important for all members of the V iPhone list. RE: tap tap c and seeing a i
TapTapSee is primarily for object recognition. So, boxes, cans, shirts, etc. It does an OK job with most things and sometimes gets the color right, but never depend on an app for color accuracy. Seeing AI has 9 or now 10 channels if you have an iPhone with the LIDAR sensor. So, yes it is complicated. ON each channel, there is an introduction video you can watch made by the blind developer describing its use. Take time to watch them. The close or back button in the top left is your friend when you have taken a picture and want to get back to the main screen. If all else fails, get sighted help with directing the camera, etc. Richard "Sunshine is delicious, rain is refreshing, wind braces us up, snow is exhilarating; there is really no such thing as bad weather, only different kinds of good weather." ~ John Ruskin My Web site: https://www.turner42.com -Original Message- From: 'Pat Marshall' via VIPhone Sent: Thursday, November 18, 2021 10:52 AM To: viphone@googlegroups.com viphone@googlegroups.com Subject: tap tap c and seeing a i Hi, can someone advise me the above apps. RE: tap tap c and seeing a i
Pat, why don't you ring KAB and either Peter or Steve can talk you through using these two apps. They are initially baffling but once you know how to use them, they really aren't that difficult to use. But I do think they are apps you need to work through with someone else rather than trying to respond to tips and hints given here on this list.
