Re: Comcast Xfinity!!!

2013-12-20 Thread Robin Frost

   Hi,
Right now on my device I'm using the xfinity connect app which lets you
interact with email and voicemails as well as displaying caller ID
notifications on your mobile device for their home phone service should you
have that with them. I also have used xfinity wi-fi app for finding their
wi-fi hot spots.
I also have their dvr, tv remote and tv go apps but haven't used them yet as
I'm not a huge tv watching person but from exploring them they seem to be
accessible with VoiceOver. I hope that helps.
It seems as though accessibility in their apps is getting better as time
goes on.

Rendering a split verdict on Comcast Xfinity App accessibility

2013-05-28 Thread Brad Hodges

Colleagues:

This morning the Comcast installer visited my home and I now have a
standard Motorola DVR. The big news is that after a phone call to a very
knowledgeable support agent I can report a mixed verdict with respect to
two of the three iOS Comcast Xfinity offers.

Xfinity Player manages streaming content which is available to me as a
Comcast TV customer. The App is very accessible and a real pleasure to
use. It is not unlike Last FM or similar music streaming services. The
programs on offer can be browsed in a variety of ways including by
network, as Movies or TV Shows etc. A search feature is also provided.
Playback is nicely controlled by very well labeled controls, and even
the commercial countdown is read by VO when it has focus.

Xfinity Player does not interact with my DVR or any other Comcast
equipment in my home.

The Xfinity TV Remote is designed to control the DVR and provides a
program guide. Unlike the Player it appears to be totally inaccessible.
I am investigating whether my combination of Dijit and an IR device will
provide access to the box.

A third Xfinity App, Xfinity Connect is used for phone and Comcast.net
mail control. I do not have phone service and use other mail clients so
I will not install Connect.

That's what I can report from WV tonight.

New Comcast Xfinity TV customer, seeking info on App accessibility

2013-05-25 Thread Brad Hodges

Colleagues:

After two tumultuous and very expensive years of Dish satellite service
I am going to add TV to my existing Comcast internet account. I know I

Re: New Comcast Xfinity TV customer, seeking info on App accessibility

2013-05-25 Thread Richard Turner
Their apps are pretty well inaccessible.
I even spoke with someone in Colorado two years ago who made noises like they
would do something about it, but since then, nothing has improved.
They are totally silent now about accessibility of their apps.
I don't have the energy to pursue them on it. I use NFB Newsline for the TV
listing and just use their remote to change channels.
Actually, we are thinking of getting out of the TV watching habbit, which
contributes to my not wanting to spend the time and energy to keep after them
about making their app accessible.

Re: New Comcast Xfinity TV customer, seeking info on App accessibility

2013-05-25 Thread Traci
The xFinity remote app has lots of usability. It is not fully accessible by
any means, but if you use it in junction with the tv guide mobile app, you can
get a lot done.

The tv listings are not accessible. If you know the name of the tv show, you
can find it and set up a episode or series recording. You can go into the more
tab and manage some dvr settings, such as schedule, episode/series settings,
etc.

The app does not allow you to play actual recordings.

The on-demand tab use to be accessible, but I have not played with that part
for a while now.

Oh, and it works to enter a channel number and turn your tv to that channel.
