Re: Editing something I have dictated

2018-04-12 Thread Bill Gallik
Hi Terry,

First of all, I consider myself moderately adept with dictation and editing
errors and making corrections. I have found that FaceBook is notoriously
unmanageable for using dictation appropriately.

I realize this doesn’t answer your question nor resolve your problem, but I
thought you might feel considerably better knowing this.

Now, to answer your question; first things first, I would make certain that the
“Text Edit” feature is present in your rotor. I personally find this feature
very useful in proof-reading and correcting dictation errors. If you’re
unfamiliar with “Text Edit” I advise you get acquainted with this tool as it’s
quite helpful.

Alternatively, you might consider opening the “Notes” app and dictating (or
otherwise entering your message therein), making any corrections and selecting
the entirety of that note and copying it to the “Paste Board” for pasting into
the FaceBook message field.

As I mentioned in the beginning of this message, I have found FaceBook to be so
“unfriendly” to dictation and follow-up edittings, Notes seems to be much
kinder in this regard - maybe that’s just a personal preference so take this
for what it’s worth to you!

2018-04-11 Thread 'RobH.' via VIPhone
I know these things can be done, and some get good at it, but I wasn't one of
them.

Dictation for me has two main requirements: know what I want to say, say it in
small sections like a single sentence, then double
tap to add it. But whatever else I do, don't touch the input field, as that is
what is moving focus to G knows where. So long as I
keep focus at bottom of screen by space and dictate buttons, and VO tells me
what was added at each stage, it does go in the order
you quote it. I'll leave the editing experts to talk through the rest of it.

Subject: Editing something I have dictated

Hello everyone,

I wasn't exactly sure what type of subject to put for this question. I
am hoping someone can offer me some help, though.

I was making a posting on Facebook earlier. I was dictating the post,
instead of typing it out. All went well with the dictation.

However, part of the text ended up at the bottom of what I was writing,
instead of toward the beginning, like I needed it to be.

I was able to save my status update as a draft. 1 thing I need to really
work on is learning how to correct errors and such. Rather it be a
mis-spelled word, or stuff getting twisted around, if I don't type it out.

So how can I learn to edit my text?

Can I cut this certain part of text, and paste it where I need it?

If so, how would I go about doing this?

The 1 time I don't type, this would happen. LOL!

Thank you,

Terri

2018-04-11 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
The Applevis has fantastic search functionality. Just look for the edit field
and type in the word or term you want to search for and press enter.
Now use your headings to find the search results and you can now filter it
further, you can, for example, apply a "Podcast" filter if you want to see only
Podcasts with your search term. You can also apply an "App Directory" filter
and many more, just check it out, it's super easy and of course 100% accessible.

Re: Editing something I have dictated

2018-04-11 Thread Ioana Gandrabur
Hello,

Moving blocks of text around without a Bluetooth keyboard is, I find, a bit
tricky.
I recommend using the rotor set to words or lines and placing VoiceOver cursor
at beginning of first word you want to start selecting.
Than use the rotor to get to the "select text " option. Then you can flick down
or up to choose selecting by words, lines, pages etc.. Flicking right will then
select by the unit you chose previously.
Now you can use the rotor again and choose edit and flick up or down till you
hear "cut ". Then you have to use rotor again to place VoiceOver cursor where
you want the clipboard contents to be placed and go back to the edit rotor
options and this time choose paste.

Hope this made sense and, if others have easier ways to go about it, I am
looking forward to hearing their suggestions.
Of course the easiest way to edit is using a keyboard but I am using a scenario
based on your context where a keyboard was not available.

Best regards,

Ioana

I was able to save my status update as a draft. 1 thing I need to really
work on is learning how to correct errors and such. Rather it be a
mis-spelled word, or stuff getting twisted around, if I don't type it out.

So how can I learn to edit my text?

Can I cut this certain part of text, and paste it where I need it?

If so, how would I go about doing this?

The 1 time I don't type, this would happen. LOL!

Thank you,

Terri
