RE: Charging My New Phone

2022-01-20 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Slightly lower on iPhone 12, I believe around 15 Watts.
But if you want to make sure you get the best possible speed and also maybe
have something to support faster speeds which may or may not come in future
then buy something like a 30 Watt USB-C wall charger which supports Apple's
fast charging standard along with a good quality USB-C to Lightning cable. Your
iPhone will then draw whatever maximum amount of power it can handle.

The iPhone 13 range of phones will at their fastest rate accept 20 Watts,
that’s 9 Volt at 2.2 Amps.

Generally the charging profiles of iPhones from slowest to fastest are:

5 Volts at 1 Amp, 5 Watts,

5 Volts at 2 Amps 10 Watts,

5 Volts at 2.5 Amps 12.5 Watts,

9 Volts at 2 Amps 18 Watts and 9 Volts at 2.2 Amps 20 Watts.

The device will negotiate with the charger to establish the correct charging
rate.

So you can use a variety of charging bricks with your phone but to take
advantage of fast charging you will need one that outputs 20 Watts.

Wireless chargers have their own specifications as do MagSafe chargers.

RE: Charging My New Phone

2022-01-20 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
And you can only fast charge if you use a USB-C wall adapter which supports it
along with a USB-C to Lightning cable, here is some info from the web:

The iPhone 13 will only charge at about 20 watts of maximum throughput, but you
can safely use higher-wattage USB-C chargers too. You just won't see any
additional speed. Of course, fast chargers also require a Lightning to USB-C
cable.
The older USB-A square Lightning cables do not support fast charging speeds.

Hi Carolyn,

Yeah should be fine,

Wattage is abit lower than I'd suggest but yes they should work,

As someone else said the cable with the newer phones is a USB-C to lightening
cable, But if you have an 11 then you should with that have a charging brick
with an 18 to 25 volts / watts etc plug, The phones all still have lightening
connectors It's jus that the newer charging bricks have USB C in them

Mind you I still use my older charging bricks cables and wifi chargers

So the older tech still works with newer devices.

 Hope this helps.
And good luck with getting a new device.

Hi, Everyone!

I just purchased a new iPhone 13 Pro Max and am wondering what charging
brick I should use to charge it. I have a USB-C charger and I'm thinking that,
because it is a larger phone, I should use that charging brick.

Any suggestions would certainly be appreciated.

Thanks so much.

Fast charging does not hurt the battery of your iPhone. I've got an
iPhone 8 which was the first iPhone to offer that feature. I've got a
USBC port on my wall power strip and a very nice lightning to USBC
cable and my iPhone 8 will charge very quickly. I'd never use a five
watt power brick. That would be way to slow.

I've heard different things about the fast charging.
Thanks.

RE: Charging My New Phone

2022-01-19 Thread Simon A Fogarty
Hi Carolyn,

Yeah should be fine,

Wattage is abit lower than I'd suggest but yes they should work,

As someone else said the cable with the newer phones is a USB-C to lightening
cable,
But if you have an 11 then you should with that have a charging brick with an
18 to 25 volts / watts etc plug,
The phones all still have lightening connectors
It's jus that the newer charging bricks have USB C in them

Mind you I still use my older charging bricks cables and wifi chargers

So the older tech still works with newer devices.

 Hope this helps.
And good luck with getting a new device.

But I still can't figure out what star light is?

I've had sight and starlight is twinkling bright points in a dark blue

And that background changes over night, from lighter to darker , then back to
lighter blue,if the sky is clear,
If its cloudy then it's greyish

So what colour is starlight?

Hi, Everyone!

I just purchased a new iPhone 13 Pro Max and am wondering what charging
brick I should use to charge it. I have a USB-C charger and I'm thinking that,
because it is a larger phone, I should use that charging brick.

Any suggestions would certainly be appreciated.

Thanks so much.

Re: Charging My New Phone

2022-01-19 Thread Malcolm Parfitt
Yes, you could use your old charger, but your new phone would come with a
different cable, a USB C to lightning one.

USB C connectors are smaller and are reversible it does not matter which way
they’re inserted into a port.

You would have to use your older cables, a USB A to lightning cable.

The charge time would be quite long using a 5 Watt charger coupled with the
higher battery capacity of the newer phone.

If that is a fast charging brick, yes, and if it is at least twice the size of
the older standard charging brick, it probably is, but it would help to know
the brand and model of the brick to be sure.
