RE: info on the IPhone SE

2016-12-01 Thread BBS
Hi Kelly. Actually, the iPhone SE was made in the spring of this year. So its
life span if Apple indeed follows through with the 5 year limit would be 2021.

Chip,

Another factor to consider is the processor is from 2015. Apple stops
updating iOS after five years so the SE will no longer receive iOS
updates in 2020, a year shorter than the 7. It is believed that Apple
will not refresh the SE in 2017. It is not the size that is different
but the processor is important. I just bought a 7 after owning an
iPhone 5 and don’t find the slightly bigger size that much of a
bother. I would say that I dropped by my local Apple store here in
Chicago wearing different kinds of shirts and pants to determine if
the standard 6, 6s, or 7 would fit. It did without a problem. Staff
at the store were cool with me handling the phone after I told them
what I wanted to learn.

Hi all,
I have an S EE, which I have had since June. I really like this phone. Your
wife could get a lanyard case which would go around her neck. I don't know if
that is something she would like or not. I have the case and it is wonderful.
It feels like rubber but I think it's actually silicone the iPhone 6 in it, and
is nicely protected because the screen goes against your body. You can adjust
the straps so that you don't even have to take it off of your neck to answer
the phone. This phone according to the Apple representative that I spoke with,
has everything in it except the 3D Touch, which had recently come out. It is a
good phone, and I think she would really like it.

Hi Chip,
I recall seeing reports, after the SE was out at first, that the battery life
there was better than the battery life on the 6S. Not better than the 6S plus,
but better than the sixs, so it may turn out to be better than seven. I haven't
seen a comparison.

Don't let the size of the SE fool you. It's small, but this battery packs a
huge punch. My phone has been on standby for 52 hours and in use for four
hours. And it's currently at 46 percent on the battery. I have location turned
off on mine, but this will show you just how awesome the battery life is on
this phone. The SE is a really good phone. It's the same as the iPhone 5S as
far as the body of the phone is concerned.

Her concern is the 7 is too large (not the plus, just standard 7); she has

I am concerned the SE has a less capable battery, and since she’s sighted, a
screen so small she would have trouble looking things up online, or managing t
touch what she needed.

Can others give me some info (please assume the price is not the primary issue

The processor in the 6S is between the seventh and the regular six. So there is
probably not that much of a difference. I had a 6S and traded it in for a 7+.
Of course I've had that phone for a little while now, but I don't recall any
huge increase in perceived speed with the new phone. Much better battery life
to be sure.

Hi Lucy,

First of all, I should mention that you can only call the first 4 entries on
your Favourites list, that is all that is shown in the menu that pops up when
you hard press on the phone app. I use "Favorite 1, Favorite 2 etc. to
substitute for the actual names, those of course are whatever you have in your
Favorites.
If you have a 6S/6S Plus or 7/7 Plus which currently are the only phones which
have 3D Touch you simply press harder on the Phone app and the following menu
pops up:

Dismiss Shortcut menu - double tap on that to do what it says, you can also
press the home button or do a scrub/back gesture
View Most recent Voice Mail
Create New Contact
Search for contact
View most recent call
Favourites (Heading)
Add widget - this puts a Favourites widget in the Today screen
Favourite entry 1
Favourite entry 2
Favourite entry 3
Favourite entry 4

Just FYI, visually the 4 names are displayed across from left to right just
above the home button, when I use this I don't actually swipe but rather just
touch the screen a bit above the home button and if I don't land on the contact
I want I just quickly drag my finger left or right a bit.

As far as reminders are concerned you just have to either mark them as
completed or delete thewm in the remindders app, simply clearing the
notification won't be enough.

Hi Chip,
I recall seeing reports, after the SE was out at first, that the battery life
there was better than the battery life on the 6S.

The sE isn't that small, no smaller than our old favourites like 5S. They were
Ok then, so sE should still be Ok now. Tucking into
waistband sounds weigh less than secure mind. Needs a really good case, which
will bulk it up and make it less sleek to do the
waistband thing.

I still use a 5S with Otterbox case, it's not that bad really. So sE shouldn't
be significantly different to that.

Subject: info on the IPhone SE

Hi all,

My wife is finally going to buy her Iphone, and she needs help deciding
between the SE and a 7.

Her concern is the 7 is too large (not the plus, just standard 7); she has
pants with no pockets, and now she can tuck a flip phone into the wasteband,
and thinks she'll be able to do this with an SE, but not with a 7.

I am concerned the SE has a less capable battery, and since she's sighted, a
screen so small she would have trouble looking things up online, or managing
t touch what she needed.

Can others give me some info (please assume the price is not the primary
issue here).

Thanks,

Chip

Don't let the size of the SE fool you. It's small, but this battery packs a
huge punch. My phone has been on standby for 52 hours and in use for four
hours. And it's currently at 46 percent on the battery. I have location turned
off on mine, but this will show you just how awesome the battery life is on
this phone. The SE is a really good phone. It's the same as the iPhone 5S as
far as the body of the phone is concerned.

RE: info on the IPhone SE

2016-11-27 Thread Louise Johnson
Hi I have the SE phone and love it. I can get a few days out of the battery. It
depends on how much you use it and what you use it for.

The phone is a great one as it fits into my fanny pack and that helps me. I
will say that it is up to her what she wants and feels that she wants to carry
around with her. I find that it sits in my hand easily and wouldn’t want a
bigger phone in my hand that is just me others will say many different things
and they can be right also. Good luck maybe go and see both in person Louise
and princess Kiara
