Re: using siri to locate and call places

I think sometimes Siri has a brain blowout. I've had this happen in this
upgrade and in nine. Then I'll try again later and it works.

Subject: using siri to locate and call places

I am having a problem with siri under ios 10

Here is what I am doing and the result

Say Siri find office max
Siri responds with I found office max on county road 1 and asked do you want
that one?

At the beep to talk I says yes
Siri responds I can get directions or call
At the beep to talk I say "call"

Then siri comes back with who do you want to call.

This happens with anything I try using the scenario above.

This used to work great under ios 9.
Any one have a solution or experiencing the same problem?

Thanks

I had heard that if you turn Siri off, you sort of have to start over with him.
Whatever he learns, is gone or so I understood. But maybe I'll try this. Can't
hurt I guess.

RE: using siri to locate and call places

2016-09-22 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
This has happened to me from time to time, SIRI sometimes just goes bananas,
but you may want to try and turn SIRI off and then back on. After I updated to
the current iOS 10 release SIRI often did completely stupid stuff. For example,
I would ask SIRI to call somebody in my contact list. SIRI wold ask me if I
wanted to call their work or mobile number. I would say "Mobile" and SIRI would
say Calling so and so mobile, then a moment later it would say "Sorry, I can
find so and so in your contacts" or "Sorry, I can't make that call for you". In
other words it found the person and asked if I wanted to call their mobile or
work and then said it couldn't find that person. After I turned SIRI off and
back on it all seems to work much better (at least so far) and I tried it
successfully with a few people where before I always said it couldn't make that
call for me.

Sieghard

Hello Jim,

I cannot reproduce your findings.

On four various iPhones, not including iPhone 7, Siri functions normally in iOS
10 with VoiceOver enabled.

I tested all 4 phones using the exact same phrase as described in your original
post, and in each instance, Siri dialed the number and the call was connected,
successfully.

Hi Jim,
I do not have a solution, but for me the behavior you are reporting has been
the same for a long time. In other words, it did not start with iOS 10. And
yes, it is very frustrating. Google works wonderfully in this situation.
