This is why I have never bought a battery case. Firstly, I want an OtterBox defender on my phone, and secondly, I'd have to replace the battery case when getting a new phone. Larry, my case is for the 6S. I don't yet have the case for the 7. I'm interested to see how they do it given the extra speaker. I will likely get it though since it really almost doubles the battery life. And no, the screen is not covered by the case. It is slightly recessed and there is a noticable border around the screen. Even if the phone were to fall face down while in the case, it would be fine. Hi There is a new setting in iOS 10 which requires pressing of the home button to unlock using touch ID. If you want the old behaviour, it is still possible. The other setting controls the speed at which home can be double or triple clicked to perform the desired action. > On 19 Sep 2016, at 00:32, Regina Alvarado wrote: > > > Short answer is no in my opinion. Is your apple smart case for the 6 or 7. -Original Message- From: viphone@googlegroups.com [mailto:viphone@googlegroups.com] On Behalf Of Wayne Merritt Sent: Sunday, September 18, 2016 7:38 PM To: viphone@googlegroups.com Subject: Re: Before I get an iPhone 7 I got my iPhone 7 Friday night and have really been enjoying it. The issue with putting your 7 in a battery case for the 6S is something that I tried. I have the Smart Battery Case from Apple that I got early this year for my 6S. The sound from the 7 in the case verses out of the case is vastly different. On the bottom of the 7 where the headphone jack used to be are what I think are extra speaker grills. So when the 7 is in the battery case, the top speaker sound comes through just fine, but the bottom speaker sounds a little muffled. Whereas, if I play music when the phone is not in the 6S case, the sound quality is equal to the jam/boom boxes that were around 20 or 30 years ago, in other words excellent. I will be getting the updated Smart Battery Case for my 7, and I'm sure that it will be able to redirect the sound from the speakers at the bottom and still work quite well. Plus, as pointed out earlier in the thread, it will be able to accommodate the slight change in the camera's size. Re: Before I get an iPhone 7
I got my iPhone 7 Friday night and have really been enjoying it.
Short answer is no in my opinion. The added speaker and the touch of the phone makes the 7 my best phone yet. So glad I could get an upgrade. Question, though, what does home button in settings make the home button do? Still can touch twice for app switcher and 3 times to turn VO on and off. What else is there? RE: Before I get an iPhone 7
I understand that. I’m wondering whether an iPhone 7 case would interfere with the quality or volume of the second speaker, as the case might very well cover the speaker area (but I don’t have an iPhone 7 to know whether this might happen, depending upon where the speaker is located). Re: Before I get an iPhone 7
Hi Tom, 3D touch is just basically a way of getting more information. Well it depends on the context. In messages, you can 3D touch the send button to send message effects. In most other contexts, 3D touch will give you a preview of the item you selected. It’s just basically pressing more firmly on the screen. The major difference I’d say is the home button. Also I think the phone is a lot faster. Plus, the stereo speakers, which means that music tends to be louder. I can’t think of any other major practical differences, but I do think the iPhone 7 is worth it. I would suggest a new case. I think the phone is the same size, but I just think it odd to have a case with a spot for headphones, when there’s no matching jack in the phone. Instead, the cases for the iPhone 7 have a slot where the headphone jack used to be, because I believe there is a second microphone in that area.
