The reason the screen is lighting up when your friend picks up his phone is
because he has the raise to wake feature on. Also, his rest to unlock setting
is probably off. I think y'll find the raise to wake setting in the new display
accomidation settings, but I'm not posative. You'll find the
Oh, weird. I could have sworn I didn't hear the screen locked message yesterday
when I had VO sounds off and my phone unmuted. It must have said it, but I
guess I didn't notice. My apologies.
Thanks,
Ari

unless you pick up the phone or lay it down. A friend of mine who has sight
said when the phone is locked and he puts his finger on the home button nothing
happens. But if he picks up the phone the screen lights up
Hey Jed. Go to settings, general, accessibility and home button and you should
see the rest finger on home button to unlock setting.

If mute is on, and sounds are on, Voiceover will still play the lock sound.
The only way you'll get "screen locked" back is by turning voiceover sounds
off.

Actually Ari that's also incorrect. I have Voiceover sounds turned off and my
phone isn't muted and I still get the screen locked message.

It's turning on the mute switch that brings the screen locked anouncement back,
not turning off VO sounds, just in case anyone was confused.

OK, fair enough, since I never turn sounds off and from what I read on this
list not many blind users do I didn't realize that Voiceover still said screen
locked when sounds were off. To me it is however not a good exchange to turn
off all sounds just so I can hear "Screen Locked", once you get
Hi Sieghard. You're sorta incorrect about the screen locked announcement. If he
really wants the announcement back, he can disable sounds and it will come back.

Hi, where do I find the option to lock the screen automatically, and where do I
find the option that when I press the on button on top of the phone to lock the
screen it says screen locked?
