Re: Trying to get a QuickStart on my new iPhone to work

2018-10-27 Thread Feliciano Godoy
When I did this Quickstart, I didn’t pointed the camera at the new phone. I
just had it next to it. then was activated. At one point, in the setup they do
say to use your camera of the old phone and to point it at the new phone.

So far as I could tell, the set up process never started. I was offered a
screen that had the instructions on how to do the quick start up or an offer to
do it manually if you wanted. Everything you could double tap on it except the
manual one did nothing. So I did the manual thing and use an iCloud back up.
That work.

My problem is the other way around. My old phone has iOS 12.01. My guess is
that the new one doesn’t. And of course there won’t be any way to update that
until I am all signed in. I guess that means I have to do it manually? What a

Re: Trying to get a QuickStart on my new iPhone to work

2018-10-27 Thread Mary Otten
I thought I remembered that you had to do that scanning of the screen. I did
hold the new phone with the back camera facing to the screen on the old phone
for a while. But I don’t know maybe I didn’t do it long enough. Nothing like
that is stated on that help the screen if that’s what it is that gives you the
choice of either manual or QuickStart. If that’s really important, it seems
like they should say to do that rather than just say put the phones near each
other which is in fact with they do say.

  Hi,
I had this issue with both devices on iOS 12 with the exception that the old
device had iOS 12 and the new iOS 12.0.1 was on the new device. Once I updated
the old device, I was able to do this without any issues.

RE: Trying to get a QuickStart on my new iPhone to work

Have you turned on Voiceover on the new phone before you attempt this?

I agree with you Mary. In fact I have been on the phone waiting for
accessibility to answer for over 30 minutes, and still waiting.
So much for accessibility and customer’s service!
I am very disappointed.
This time apple will get low rating from me.

Well, all I know is it doesn’t work. I made sure Bluetooth was on on my old
phone. No way to check on the new one, since I can’t get to settings. Bluetooth
does need to be on. It just doesn’t work. I’ve never been so disgusted with the
supposedly easy process from the company that put Customer’s first. Not this

This is just my gut feeling, but somehow I can’t imagine you have to be exactly
on the same iOS version for this to work, not sure what other factors are

down to the double dot number, e.g. 12.0 or 12.0.1.

Re: Trying to get a QuickStart on my new iPhone to work

2018-10-26 Thread Mary Otten
My problem is the other way around. My old phone has iOS 12.01. My guess is
that the new one doesn’t. And of course there won’t be any way to update that
until I am all signed in. I guess that means I have to do it manually? What a
drag!

Re: Trying to get a QuickStart on my new iPhone to work

2018-10-26 Thread Feliciano Godoy
Hi,
I had this issue with both devices on iOS 12 with the exception that the old
device had iOS 12 and the new iOS 12.0.1 was on the new device. Once I updated
the old device, I was able to do this without any issues.
