Re: apple id verification, enter your password in settings
I never get that anymore either. I have a passcode and they may ask me for that when updating my phone and ask for my touch ID when obtaining an app. Sent from my iPhone >> On Jan 9, 2020, at 9:43 AM, Sieghard Weitzel wrote: > It is from Apple from time to time they will ask you to verify your > credentials. > Do you have 2-factor authentication enabled? It is from Apple from time to time they will ask you to verify your credentials. Do you have 2-factor authentication enabled? Re: apple id verification
I get the same message. I think it has to do with iCloud which I have turned off. And yet it's on for mail and other sorts of things. I can go to the App Store and I'm logged in there so that's not the issue. It is annoying. I noticed that a few things like mail were switched on still in the iCloud setting and maybe all of those have to be turned off In order to make it stop doing this. It also seem to have coincided with its loading on yet another update which I have not installed. Deidre > On Aug 12, 2018, at 8:42 PM, Jewel wrote: > > Kay! I think it happens when, for whatever reason, your device looses contact with ICloud for a period of time, then reconnects. It only wants you to re-enter your password, so it can make sure the device that is connecting, using your ICloud account really is you. Re: Apple ID verification prompt asking for 2FA recovery key?
Hi. No, the 2 factor authentication is different from iCloud Keychain. Keychain keeps passwords and log-in information secure in Safari, while 2 factor authentication prevents someone else from unlocking or getting into your iPhone, at least I think that's right. Re: Apple ID verification prompt asking for 2FA recovery key?
Where can I find this? Is it tied to the keychain I did not want to turn on but could find no way to avoid? What need are these 2 things, and if keychain is not necessary how do I take it off? The necessity to always put in my apple password is a pain every time I shut off my phone. I need explanation from tekies who are smarter about technology than me. reggie & Lex On Oct 27, 2015, at 6:10 PM, Alex Hall <mehg...@icloud.com> wrote: It's only if you enabled two-factor authentication before the iOS9 update. What I have been getting is to verify my apple ID password in settings. When I tap on this I am put in settings. I can then put in my apple password. Everything goes well until the next time I turn off my phone. No code asked for. Re: Apple ID verification prompt asking for 2FA recovery key?
It's only if you enabled two-factor authentication before the iOS9 update. You would have been given a recovery key that you were warned to not lose. If you enabled it more recently, no such key is provided, and verification happens differently. If you don't have the feature enabled at all, there's nothing to worry about, though I would encourage you to turn it on as soon as you can. > On Oct 27, 2015, at 17:24, Regina Alvarado <reggie.alvar...@gmail.com> wrote: > > > What I have been getting is to verify my apple ID password in settings. Update: it's fine. I just called Apple, and was told that the 9.1 update is prompting everyone with two factor authentication enabled to enter their key due to a certificate update. Re: Apple ID verification prompt asking for 2FA recovery key?
Hi Alex, Perhaps they’re starting the process of letting people sign up for 2-factor authentication, which is different from the current 2-step authentication they have in place now. 2-factor authentication does away with recovery keys, and changes the codes you need to enter when signing into a new device from 4 to 6 digits. > On Oct 24, 2015, at 7:18 AM, Alex Hallwrote: > > Hi all, > A couple days ago, my iPhone (running 9.1) asked for my Apple ID password. Re: Apple ID verification prompt asking for 2FA recovery key?
Hello, And if you don't get it. Is that OK, too? I haven't even typed in a password after the update. - Original Message - From: Alex Hall <mehg...@icloud.com> To: 'Eleanor Roberts' via VIPhone <viphone@googlegroups.com> Date: Saturday, October 24, 2015 2:52 pm Subject: Re: Apple ID verification prompt asking for 2FA recovery key? > > > Update: it's fine. Re: Apple ID verification prompt asking for 2FA recovery key?
I've had that lately, I only click cancel and carry on as normal so far. Feels like a fishing scam, but can't trace where from. - Original Message - From: "Alex Hall"To: "'Eleanor Roberts' via VIPhone" Sent: Saturday, October 24, 2015 1:18 PM Subject: Apple ID verification prompt asking for 2FA recovery key? Hi all, A couple days ago, my iPhone (running 9.1) asked for my Apple ID password. I thought nothing of it, until it then wanted my two factor authentication recovery key. My understanding is that this key is for recovery only, if I forget my password or am otherwise locked out of my account. My password was right, though. I got nervous about this, because it shouldn't prompt for that key, at least I don't think it should. Has anyone seen this, and/or does anyone know what might be going on? The prompt comes up once a day, but I haven't completed it yet. Things seem to be working just fine without doing so. -- Have a great day, Alex Hall mehg...@icloud.com -- The following information is important for all members of the VIPhone list.
