I never get that anymore either. I have a passcode and they may ask me for that
when updating my phone and ask for my touch ID when obtaining an app.

2020-01-09 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
It is from Apple from time to time they will ask you to verify your
credentials.
Do you have 2-factor authentication enabled? It seems I rarely get these any
more since doing that, in fact, can't remember the last time I had to do this.

Re: apple id verification

2018-08-13 Thread Deidre Muccio
I get the same message. I think it has to do with iCloud which I have turned
off. And yet it's on for mail and other sorts of things. I can go to the App
Store and I'm logged in there so that's not the issue. It is annoying. I
noticed that a few things like mail were switched on still in the iCloud
setting and maybe all of those have to be turned off In order to make it stop
doing this. It also seem to have coincided with its loading on yet another
update which I have not installed.

2018-08-12 Thread Dave
i’ve been getting the same message from apple, on and off, for some time now,
asking me to enter my password.

I don’t know why apple has started doing this, but I just enter my password
strait away, and it goes away, and all is fine for a while.

I wouldn’t keep saying not now, as this may cause you problems, after so many
times.

I think it happens when, for whatever reason, your device looses contact with
ICloud for a period of time, then reconnects. It only wants you to re-enter
your password, so it can make sure the device that is connecting, using your
ICloud account really is you.

Re: apple id verification

2018-08-12 Thread Marie
I am not sure why this happens but if you do not sign in for a long period of
time it will keep bugging you to enter the password. After my son passed away I
began getting this but did not have the password. After almost a year of saying
“not now”, the phone locked up and unless I can get a court order there is no
possibility of unlocking it. So take the time to enter the password and then
call Apple Accessibility to find out why it is happening.

Re: Apple ID verification prompt asking for 2FA recovery key?

2015-10-28 Thread Wayne Merritt
Hi. No, the 2 factor authentication is different from iCloud Keychain.
Keychain keeps passwords and log-in information secure in Safari,
while 2 factor authentication prevents someone else from unlocking or
getting into your iPhone, at least I think that's right.

Where can I find this? Is it tied to the keychain I did not want to turn on but
could find no way to avoid? What need are these 2 things, and if keychain is
not necessary how do I take it off? The necessity to always put in my apple
password is a pain every time I shut off my phone. I need explanation from

Re: Apple ID verification prompt asking for 2FA recovery key?

2015-10-27 Thread Regina Alvarado

What I have been getting is to verify my apple ID password in settings. When I
tap on this I am put in settings. I can then put in my apple password.
Everything goes well until the next time I turn off my phone. No code asked
for. What is this code, and where can I get it in case they ask?

Re: Apple ID verification prompt asking for 2FA recovery key?

2015-10-27 Thread Alex Hall
It's only if you enabled two-factor authentication before the iOS9 update. You
would have been given a recovery key that you were warned to not lose. If you
enabled it more recently, no such key is provided, and verification happens
differently. If you don't have the feature enabled at all, there's nothing to
worry about, though I would encourage you to turn it on as soon as you can.

2015-10-25 Thread Alex Hall
I imagine so, yes, but I didn't ask that. If you want to be sure, go to
Settings > iCloud and wait a minute. That's where you'll be asked if it isn't
popping up every day. Again, if you aren't asked, I wouldn't worry.

Re: Apple ID verification prompt asking for 2FA recovery key?

2015-10-24 Thread Alex Hall
Update: it's fine. I just called Apple, and was told that the 9.1 update is
prompting everyone with two factor authentication enabled to enter their key
due to a certificate update. Oddly, when I entered my password just now,
intending to give it the key, it didn't ask me for one. Go figure! Anyway, if
you're prompted for that key, this is apparently normal.

Re: Apple ID verification prompt asking for 2FA recovery key?

2015-10-24 Thread Daniel Miller
Hi Alex,

Perhaps they’re starting the process of letting people sign up for 2-factor
authentication, which is different from the current 2-step authentication they
have in place now.
2-factor authentication does away with recovery keys, and changes the codes you
need to enter when signing into a new device from 4 to 6 digits.

Hi all,
A couple days ago, my iPhone (running 9.1) asked for my Apple ID password. I
thought nothing of it, until it then wanted my two
factor authentication recovery key. My understanding is that this key is for
recovery only, if I forget my password or am otherwise
locked out of my account. My password was right, though. I got nervous about
this, because it shouldn't prompt for that key, at
least I don't think it should. Has anyone seen this, and/or does anyone know
what might be going on? The prompt comes up once a day,
but I haven't completed it yet. Things seem to be working just fine without
doing so.
