RE: so who got there hands on iPhone7?

2016-09-22 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hi Jim,

If you are on a two-year upgrade cycle in Canada I would probably wait until
the 10th anniversary iPhone next year. If you upgrade now and won't get to
upgrade next year you may regret it.
Yes, the 7 and 7 Plus will be faster, they have a better camera which may or
may not matter to you and you'll get better battery life as well as 3D touch.
But I think the iPhone in a year will be a much bigger deal and a much better
upgrade.

Regards,
Sieghard

Hi Jim,

The 7 is the same size as the 6, and the 7 Plus is the same size as the 6 Plus.
The new phone definitely sounds better, with the stereo speakers. It's also
faster, particularly than the 6 and earlier models. The haptic feedback and 3D
Touch are nice as well. Only having one port for listening and charging is a
bit annoying, though.

Best,
Anna

Remember that this is a new feature for everyone, not just the blind. As future
updates and iOS releases come out, we will probably see Apple implement haptic
feedback more. In fact, this may be laying the foundation for something we may
see next year on the 2017 iPhone or in iOS 11. Time will tell.

Hi Mary,

I like the haptic feedback when going through a table index. There's a click
every time you switch letters, and if you move through them quickly, the clicks
are fast. It just reinforces my sense of how quickly I'm moving through the
list. There's also a click-type vibration when many settings are turned on.
Pretty neat.

2016-09-20 Thread Mary Otten
So I guess it's an all or nothing setting, right? I'm kind of intrigued by the
uses of this home button with the different possible vibration patterns
providing information supplemental to or as a replacement for speech. But I
can't see the use for it in a table index. It seems like it might be rather
disconcerting, although I suppose you could get used to it, especially if it's
set on the light setting. But with the speech announcement of each letter, the
vibrations seem redundant in that context.

recalibrated the braille keyboard. If you do that just hold your finger
down in the way you need them in order to braille easily on the phone.
Hope that helps. Sorry for any confusion.

So are there actually two speakers on this phone and I'm curious as to
where they are located? We've had stereo speakers on old school nokia
phones for years so it is nice improvement.

Re: so who got there hands on iPhone7?

2016-09-20 Thread Wayne Merritt
Hi: I just saw this thread. I got mine last Friday evening and love it! One
thing that hasn't been mentioned yet is the haptic feedback you get when doing
certain things on the phone, such as adjusting a table index. Each time a new
letter is announced the whole phone vibrates: This is very cool but will also
take me awhile to get used to. Another place I found the haptic feedback was in
the clock. When editing one of my alarm sounds, each system alarm sound had a
different vibration pattern. I use my phone to wake up to and many times I will
wake up to the vibrations as well. Now that each system sound has its own
pattern, I can see those different vibrations will help me wake up. Not a huge
thing or big reason to upgrade, but this haptic feedback will help the deaf
blind as well. I can't wait to tell a co-worker about it. Finally, thanks for
the tip on typing the for sign. in Braille I've been wondering how to make that
work.

Re: so who got there hands on iPhone7?

2016-09-18 Thread Woody Anna Dresner

Best,
Anna

Re: so who got there hands on iPhone7?

2016-09-18 Thread Woody Anna Dresner
Hi,

I'm writing this using onscreen braille input on an iPhone 7. The inability to
use six dots at a time has nothing to do with screen size. It's just that the
multi-touch system on all iPhones can handle up to five fingers at a time. To
enter all six dots on any phone, hold down five fingers, lift one, and add the
sixth. Then lift your hands.

Best,
Anna

I am under the impression that there is no physical home button, so could

Re: so who got there hands on iPhone7?

2016-09-18 Thread Sadam Ahmed

Got mine on Saturday morning.

I went for the standard 4.7-inch as a pose to the Plus model.

The improved speakers and new home button are all welcome.

Can't wait to try out the AirPods when there released later next month.

Wanted Jet black but had to settle for gold128GB as all black versions
disappeared damn fast!

Best,

Sadam Ahmed

I paid for mine in full and can unlock it in 45 days. So what do you like and
dis like about the phone?

I got mine Friday. I love the phone. The battery life is great on it, and I
really like the 3D touch. :)

Nothing so far I dislike.
