Hi All,
Suppose I am running a debian linux machine with KDE as the GUI, and
tightVNC. A friend is using the linux machine locally and I would like to
show them how to do something. I am on an arbitrary pc somewhere on the
network which may or may not have VNC veiwer installed, and may be any OS.
I appreciate the help lent me over the mailing list. The question of why our network
is set up the way it is has been asked many times, it seems, so let me explain why we
have it set up thus...

OK - I got mad at it and decided to try something - I took the router ( netgear RP 614

I talked to another user and
Can't figure out why you have the hub - router arrangement you have. But as
has already been noted your issues look to me to be router rather than VNC
related.
If your Internet connection is plugged to the hub and then the hub to the
router, it sounds like you have that (the hub) plugging into the

I am currently working on an application that is designed primarily to
access via a touchscreen PC. However, there are a few configuration
options which require a keyboard. It is possible to detect that a
keyboard is connected using WMI. However, we are hoping not to have to
use a separate

What version of VNC are you using? Using 3.3.7 you can have them share the
connection, click options from the VNC viewer, then select Shared (don't disconnect
other viewers) under the Misc section.

I'm running KDE 3.1 on Debian Linux, and I just installed VNC on my Linux
box so I wouldn't have to be hitting the switch in my KVM switch all the
time, which messes up my mo

From the remainder of your message I
Unrelated to Novell, luckily. It's the normal behaviour.
If you're using 3.3.7 client, there's the option button. Every client has to
enable the "Shard" option:

I have a Window XP professional PC. I am trying to have 6 to 10 people connect to it
via a VNC viewer to view a presentation. The PC has a Novell client (v4.8). When I
connect, the first client connects fine. But when the second client connects it knocks
the first connection off. Anybody have an
What router/firewall are you using? Does it have the latest version of
firmware? I remember another user has updated his router and everything was then
working for him. Just an idea.
You said it works "internally". This sentence implies that you have more than
one computer,

Do you get any message from the client when it closes down?

For those server messages to client before authentification: isn't it better
stock these messages in a buffer? In this way, we could avoid loss of possibly
important messages, no?
