Re: Setup free version
below is a similar situation from an earlier post. See if these steps resolve the issue. Hi Dale, Many thanks for your email. I am now up and running :) All the best Mark -Original Message- From: Dale Eshelman [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: 14 February 2008 02:58 To: Mark Warren Subject: Re: VNC and Dyndns Not sure on this as I have not used a dyns address. However, i believe the two computers are referring to the same external IP address. Therefore, each computer needs to be set up in the router with port forwarding to different displays. VNC uses display 0 as the default and send through port 5900. Display 1 is port 5901 an so on. On the router (for the laptop 192.168.0.3) set up port forwarding to port 5901 and on the laptop set vnc to use display 1. On the router (for other computer 192.168.0.xx) set up port forwarding to port 5900 and on the coputer set vnc to use diplay 0. Should now work. Dale --- Mark Warren [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: HI, I am totally new to this so please be gentle !! I am just doing some testing on behalf of a friend of mine who wants to be able to control his work PC from home. I am doing OK up to now. My question/problem is this: I have two PCs at home I am doing my testing on. I have setup VNC Enterprise (trial version) on both machines. I have also set up a dynamic DNS via www.dyndns.org. On my laptop I have set up the VNC server and when I hover over the icon on the toolbar it says 192.168.0.3 which is obviously my internal IP address. I can connect from my desktop using the VNC viewer and entering 192.168.0.3. However, if I type in my dynamic DNS e.g. [EMAIL PROTECTED] I cannot connect to my laptop. Is this because both of the PCs are behind my router a Netgear DG834G Version 3. I am sure I have opened the necessary ports 5900 and 5800 (also 5950 and 5850 which is how I set up the server on my laptop). Any advise would be really appreciated. This seems an amazing product, especially for the cost, and means I don't have to upgrade my friends PCs to XP Pro J Regards Mark ___ VNC-List mailing list VNC-List@realvnc.com To remove yourself from the list visit: http://www.realvnc.com/mailman/listinfo/vnc-list Never miss a thing. I am on a Broadband Cable Modem with a Dlink Router,. I have added the ports to the router following the instructions, but still we cannot connect. being on Virgin Cable Broadband, this of course sets its own PC, as my network settings are set to get IP automatically. Can anyone please point me in the right direct so that we can connect both ways? Win VNC Features
Are there any versions/methods to which allow the following features(?): 1. WinVNC Windows intial startup size (I can scale a window with the mouse afterward, sure, but I would like it to appear as a certain size. Currently it's way to wide) 2. Win VNC window's starting location (I have multiple monitors on my client side, and have a many machines. This would include screen # and pixel starting location.) 3. Win VNC viewing location (currently the info I look most at is located on the second screen of the VNC Server PC that I am viewing. Everytime I log on, I currently have to use the scroll bar at the bottom of the screen to move the viewer to the second screen) This functionality would be awesome! If WinVNC can't do this, does anyone know a package that can??? - Be a better friend, newshound, and know-it-all with Yahoo! Mobile. So there is no solution to remove black margine?? Is it a limitation of Real VNC? But there's one thing people always think wrongly (as I've stated in another post): WinVNC only shows what's already shown on screen, and this implies also the screen resolution/dimension. RE: VNC Sessions appears with Black screen when I shift VNC Session from one monitor to another....
From your previous mail, it sounds like you really want to either scale or resize the desktop to fit the viewer window. Both of these options are available with the latest VNC Enterprise Edition release (see http://www.realvnc.com/products/enterprise) Regards, -- Wez @ RealVNC Ltd -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of paresh masani Sent: 12 May 2008 10:56 To: Seak, Teng-Fong Cc: vnc-list@realvnc.com Subject: Re: VNC Sessions appears with Black screen when I shift VNC Session from one monitor to another So there is no solution to remove black margine??
