Well to answer one of your questions you can display your widgets on your
desktop by enabling the developer mode or by using an app like Amnesty. To
enable dev mode, which is free, just type this into terminal:
defaults write com.apple.dashboard devmode YES
Logout and back in, open

I am in Kalamunda just up the hill from Forrestfield, if she doesnt
have any luck let me know, I have a laptop so could start it up via
firewire and run disk utilities from there,

company valuations seem to be disappearing. Banks and auto makers in
particular.

This is something that Murdoch university does a lot.
They send out a word (.doc) document and embedded in it are a number
of PDFs (.pdf).
I cannot open the the embedded documents with my version of word
(Office X) or acrobat or any other PDF reader.
I cannot extract them from the word
I don't know if this would work but I have used it many times to
extract embedded pictures as separate files.
Open the document in Pages and save it immediately as a pages document.
Right click (cntrl click) on the new document and 'open the package
contents'. With a bit of luck the PDFs

winmail.dat files. I don't know if this is related
to your problem but it might help as well.
