My 6 port Swann Firewire hub appears to have carked it. The computer firewire is fine and a drive plugged straight in mounts. The power supply is probably OK as the indicator light on the hub is on. I am unable to find a replacement at this stage, in fact firewire hubs seem to be a

Thanks for the tip, Bob. Mine went this afternoon and Tony's a couple of days ago so a power spike is an unlikely common cause. In any case I run through a Belkin surge protector. Tomorrow I will certainly check out the power supply, it is such an awkward job with the mass of cabling
