My new attempt this afternoon was 100%, playback in VLC is ok.
Terminal showed download completed 99.9%
Where do I find iViewFox ? (to check the RTMPDum timeout) Can't see it under
applications.
Is it part of Firefox ? But have looked in the FF preferences,
can't see it there
Tired booting into verbose, then safe, then normal
still no dice
i will have to try booting into safe mode again and seeing what happens after a
few hr of system uptime

It's part of Firefox - well an add-on actually.
Go to add-ons in the Tools menu and any add-on you have installed will be
listed.
Select the iViewFox add-on and you get three buttons:
preferences disable and uninstall
Click the preferences button and Robert is your parent's
Also see if you can check Console to see if anything is reported there for
the crashing apps. (or not launching apps).
That can list info that's helpful sometimes too.
Also, look at MemTest ( I think it's called) and see if the RAM is ok.
