Thanks Neil, My new attempt this afternoon was 100%, playback in VLC is ok. Terminal showed download completed 99.9% Where do I find iViewFox ? (to check the RTMPDum timeout) Can't see it under applications. Is it part of Firefox ? But have looked in the FF preferences, can't see it there

Also see if you can check Console to see if anything is reported there for the crashing apps. (or not launching apps). That can list info that's helpful sometimes too. Also, look at MemTest ( I think it's called) and see if the RAM is ok. Incase there is something wrong there and after a few

Okay...Laptop has been on for 3 hrs now but not doing anything, on charge, not gone to sleep, just screen turned off everything seems to be fine so farso what your saying about the memory might be a goer Console is logging the crashes as (or very similar too):

Hi there. Our office has a new 27 iMac. All fine except a fairly loud fan that comes on pretty much at any time. The fan stays on but does not increase in volume. Nor does it heat up or freeze. Any idea what this may be? is there a reset for this? 2.66GHz / 4Gb RAM / OSX 10.6.7 / 1Tb
