I acknowledge the committee is elected to make decisions but cannot see how the
proposed name change is going to attract new members. Compared to most members,
I am relatively new to the Mac world (a mere six years) but am still sad to see

Hi WAMUGers,
Well, I have said Hi WAMUGers another time ;-)
I've been giving some more thought to this and watching the list and comments
and pondering the following, which I haven't seen answered as yet, so will
re-post for interest sake, some of the queries raised so far, as well as some
Hi All
Well, only under 8 hours to go to the Apple event. New iPhone 5,..or whatever
it's called.
Will be interesting to see how many of the rumours come true.
And how far off for iOS6 and it's new features.
I also note that there's mention of the 10.8.2 update nearing completion, so
may see
OOPS ... I forgot another point I did hint at it my first post to the list.
In the post from the Committee it was mentioned having to explain the WAMUG
name. Isn't this sort of doing the right thing, as it's getting them
enquiring about it.
Once you've got them asking what it is, you then
To quote a (very) famous writer,
what's in a name
so what if we change the name, the people still stay the same.
If more people connect because of a different name isn't that better?

Hi Ronni and all other WAMUGGERS.
I'd just like to address two points from a personal perspective to put your
minds at ease.
1. Domain name. Knowing that the name change would invoke healthy public
debate on a public forum and also knowing that there are people out there (not
WAMUGGERS!!)
Lots of interesting specs on iDevices and sales,...
New iPhone 5
7.6mm thin (18% thinner). Made entirely of glass and aluminium. 326ppi Retina
Display, 4 1136x640 resolution. Same width, but taller.
Still designed to be used with one hand,…
Ultrafast Wireless - Telstra, Optus and Virgin
It is indeed good to see that LTE 4G high speed networking is supported in
Australia on Telstra, Optus and Virgin, but surprising to see that GPS
turn-by-turn navigation is not.
Looks like we'll have to rely on the directions feature in the new Maps app
(pretty much the same as we have in
Mi Muggers,
There a many interesting points below I would like to comment on. I am mired
down in family issues and preparation for delivery of a UWA test tomorrow so
haven't had a spare moment. I will post on the week end.

I notice the SIM card is a Nano-SIM... The iPhone 5 is not compatible with
existing micro-SIM cards.
I was waiting for the release of new iPhone 5 and ready to upgrade my iPhone4S.
But at this moment my Tigger Car is being serviced and the quote for the
service is $1,600 (which I did not
Hi people,

The phone rings and at the other end of the line is a scammer claiming to be

and worse still charge your credit card for the privilege.

Hi ronni and all
those who are thinking of upgrading to iphone5, think about all the $ you will
save from getting it, as you will need to get adaptors for all your devices you
got for your iphone4(s).
Looks like ill only upgrade to iphone4s when the time comes in a couple of
months. taller
1 Thank you Pete for clarifying the Special Meeting requirements. Unless
specified otherwise in the Constitution (Rules) then the Act, as you
say, prevails and 28 days apply.
2 As suggested by Ronni the legal use of the word Apple does need
further exploration.

Hi Lynn,
P/S: now that iphone5 announcement is out, any rumours of iphone5s or
iphone6? i can wait a couple years for the next one, providing that they are
the original charge port.
No rumours on an iPhone 5S or iPhone 6... yet :-)
I don't see Apple going back to the original charge port.
I have some reservations about the proposed name change. Efficient marketing
can sell any name, and history IS important.
Aside from the necessity of carefully considering of the points raised by
Ronni, Merv and others, and assuming WAMUG must be replaced, I think Shayne's
suggestion of WA
