I acknowledge the committee is elected to make decisions but cannot see how the proposed name change is going to attract new members. Compared to most members, I am relatively new to the Mac world (a mere six years) but am still sad to see "Mac" no longer in the proposed name change. It is only fairly recently that I learned the Mackintosh name came from the brand of the founder's favourite apple.
As I look at my latest edition of Macworld magazine I find it hard to imagine that anyone would feel the need to change the name to Appleworld to attract more buyers. All power to the Committee as they seek new members. For my part I just wish there was another way other than changing the WAMUG acronym. As Severin so rightly says, whatever name is chosen it will become just another acronym that requires explanation.
