Hi Peter,
No, iLife ’11 is an Upgrade not an Update. You need to purchase iLife ’11
I think now you can only purchase and download the iLife iWork Apps through
the App Store.
I don’t think Apple have the DVD for purchase anymore.
I have the physical DVD as I prefer to have the disc.
There
Hello Ronni
Thanks for taking so much trouble. I am not the brightest pebble on the beach
at present! I have just come home and now I have a visitor so I shall have to
get back to you later.

I am running Lion 10.7.3 on a 21 iMac and apart from a couple of minor
annoying but not life threatening ongoing glitches everything is perfect.
However, I am aware that everything on my iMac is the result of ongoing update
installs and runs of Migration Assistant dating back to 10.3 Tiger on
Hello Again Ronni
Yes I am using iPhoto 9.2.1 (iLife’11). Your explanation, as ever, is
wonderfully clear. I have only imported one batch of photos and I shall now
organise them properly and hopefully get it right next time.!
Yes I am using iTunes 10.5.3. After dinner I shall work through your
Hi Severin,
App cleaners can only go so far. If they are two aggressive they may disable
software other than than being uninstalled and if they are too conservative
they do little more than you could do by dragging the app and the preferences
to the garbage can. I was in exactly the same

Hello Diana,
After that dissertation, I'm sure Ronni needs a rest!
For your other question…
You get a discount for buying a whole album off iTunes. That's why the album
price is $8.99 but the total of the individual tracks is $27.97. You will get
ALL the tracks if you buy the album (and
Hi Diana,
If you still think iPhoto is unnecessarily complicated, have you tried
opening Image Capture with the camera connected by usb and seeing if Image
Capture sees the Canon camera?
I also prefer to organise my photos how I want to file them - rather than
the way iPhoto wants to file them -

I think the complete reinstall of everything is the best way to go, even
if it is a hassle, and it will take you more than a week of elapsed time.
I've just got a new machine after years of one which was really clunky.
I have made sure that I reinstalled everything, and copied only the
Hi Allen there are various 'ripping' programs available, some free,
I have used HandBrake, MacX DVD Ripper Pro RipIt.
A quick search should show these.

Thanks Ronni, I have Airport Utility v5.5.3 (553.20) plus the first panel
indicates the need to update the firmware of the TC as well. There is a button
for firmware update so that seems easy but should I update the Airport Utility
version whilst at it and how?
Then presumably I can apply the
I've been using Freehand MX for several years as the design tool for my Stained
Glass/Leadlight business (North Fremantle Leadlights) and I keep 10.68 on my
computer to run it as it is not supported by Lion. This morning, horror of
horrors. it won't launch and I get the Problem report window
I've just googled the problem and it appears that the latest 10.6.8 security
update has Gummed up the Works!
I've got the original Install discs (10.6.4) that came with the iMac (27
3.2GHz Intel Core i3). Should I do a reinstall and avoid updates?

Generally only if you installed 10.6.8 the first one, they released 10.6.8 v1.1
Security update.
If you check Software Update does it show again as another Security Update?
Or try downloading from here:-

I'd try reinstalling that
Yes Firmware update is fine. Click the Update button, it will do the rest.

Hi Peter,
Yes, update the firmware as Daniel has mentioned.
Re. Airport Utility:
Are you on Snow Leopard or Lion, I thought you had upgraded to Lion.
Airport Utility v 6.0 is ONLY for Lion.
Airport Utility (vs) 5.6 and 6.0 are for Lion (10.7.2 or 10.7.3)... not for
Snow Leopard.
