Transferring TIFF files from Nikon D300s

Folks, I am just trying to download some photographs shot as full size TIFFs onto my MBP OS 10.10.1. I have achieved transfer of some files but my camera originals ( usual file size 28MB) were converted to low res JPGs. I have tried using Nikon NX-.app ( doesn’t work). The old Nikon Nikon

Hi Bill, why not bypass the issue by not using software at all. Whether you are using a card reader or connecting the camera by USB the card will show up on your desktop as a drive. Just make a new folder on your desktop and copy the contents of the camera card into it by dragging and dropping.

Bill, using Photos to import files means that your photos are put into a database that in inaccessible to anything but Photos. You then have to export the photos to get them out of the database. So, I would never use it as my only way to get photos onto my Mac. Lightroom does the same thing.

Peter, For as many years as I have owned Nikon digi cameras, (and I used to shoot RAW), I have used Nikon Transfer 2 app. No problems. Now I shoot TIFF ( different camera - D300S). Yesterday I tried downloading some 48MB shots via USB from the D300S with Nikon2 open as per usual. Zip.

I got there in the end. The card in a reader and that appears as “D300S” on the sidebar and its drag and drop. So Photos can sit there and not get used. I agree with your methods entirely. Just a matter of getting someone significantlu younger than me to show the route. Bill > On 15
