Re: eStatements
No, Ronni. With the ANZ the eStatements open directly into Preview and are not copied to the download folder. I had a bright idea today. I decided to quit Safari and open Firefox and lo and behold the eStatements in both my business and personal ANZ Internet Banking accounts open but not the same as in Safari. I presume therefore it is Safari itself or Safari that is installed on my home and surgery iMacs. Hi Stuart, When you click on the eStatement and it opens in Safari, can't you then go to File Save As To download the Statement PDF? Hi Stuart, Tough one? Turning out to be. You are making it harder for me to help you by not answering my questions. I can’t see what you are seeing on your computer screens; so I ask questions to try and see ‘in my mind’ what is happening. You say: With the ANZ the eStatements open directly into Preview and are not copied to the download folder.” Then you say: Does not open. Comes up with the error message that I mentioned in the first place Well which is it… They open directly in Preview application or they don’t open? Questions you have not answered: 1. You are using Safari 5.1.5? 2. You are running Safari in 64-bit mode (not 32-bit)? To find out, click once to highlight Safari.app then go to File Get Info and make sure ‘Open in 32-bit mode’ is not selected. 3. You have checked your Downloads Folder that there are not any bank statements there? 4. You have deleted the Safari “Cache.db file following my previous instructions? 5. You mention you receive a message in Safari Snow Leopard, but nothing in Lion? What happens in Lion when you click or double click on the eStatement PDF? You say you can open the statements in Firefox but ‘not the same as in Safari’ … how do they open in firefox? Do they open in Preview or Adobe Reader? Do they just download? Or you can download them after viewing them? I’m trying to sort this for you. You mention you receive a message in Safari Snow Leopard, but nothing in Lion? What happens in Lion when you click or double click on the eStatement PDF? 1. Go to ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari/. The tilde ~ means your Home Library. Delete the Cache.db file. Drag it to the Trash 2. Restart Safari If you don’t have your Home Library showing in Lion: 1. Close Safari, then open Terminal. Type or Copy Paste chflags nohidden ~/Library/ You will then be able to see ~/Library in the Finder. 2. Go to ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari/. Delete the Cache.db file. 3. Restart Safari If you still cannot view or download your ANZ eStatements after following all the suggestions that have been given, try 'not blocking any cookies'. a) Select Safari from the menu bar and then select Preferences from the menu. b) From the new window, select Privacy from the icons along the top and then check that the following options are ticked: In the Block cookies section, if you have selected ‘From third parties and advertisers’ try selecting “Never”. If you still cannot view or download your ANZ eStatements you might have to contact ANZ. Stuart, Have you tried a different browser? Firefox or Google Chrome. I find Chrome handles downloads better than Safari for me. It might not solve your problem, but installing a variety of browsers gives you more options to troubleshoot when you have problems. https://www.google.com/chrome?platform=mac http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/new/ Tim On 12/04/2012, at 7:13 PM, Stuart Breden wrote: Ronni, I've done exactly what you suggested. Hi Ronni Thanks for that information. I have had the same problem as Stuart, but intermittently and not in urgent situations. So my lack of knowledge about cookies and JavaScript didn't matter. WAMUG Mailing list does not allow attachments, only plain text emails. The ANZ online Statements are in PDF format the same as all the banks and the settings are the same as most banks. I’ve typed the error message from the attachment you sent me, it reads: /quote: Why your statement is unavailable: To access your ANZ online statements you need to have your browser cookies enabled. You'll also need to be logged into ANZ Internet Banking before you can access your online statements. What you need to do: Make sure that your browser cookies are enabled, if you're not sure how you can find out more Log into ANZ Internet Banking by going to www.anz.com, then to access your online statements go to Accounts and View Online Statements. /End Quote: Using Safari to access your ANZ online statements, you need to: Step 1 - Check the security settings: a) Select Safari from the menu bar and then select Preferences from the menu. b) From the new window, select Security from the icons along the top and then check that the following options are ticked: Enable Java Enable JavaScript Ensure the Block pop-up windows box is left unchecked. Click the red close window button in the top left corner. Step 2 - Enable cookies for ANZ a) Select Safari from the menu bar and then select Preferences from the menu. b) From the new window, select Privacy from the icons along the top and then check that the following options are ticked: In the Block cookies section, if Always is selected, change it to From third parties and advertisers. If Never is selected, you can leave it the way it is. Click the red close window button in the top left corner. Step 3 - Clear the cache a) Select Safari from the menu bar and then select Empty cache from the drop down menu. b) When the confirmation window appears, click Empty to clear the browser cache Step 4 - Apply all changes To enable these changes, close and restart your browser. Once you have re-opened the browser, your Safari settings should be compatible with ANZ Internet Banking and allow you to log on. This is all fairly standard for accessing online bank statements. Re: eStatements
Hi Stuart, What format are the eStatements in? They are normally just PDFs, open with Preview Application or Adobe Reader. CBA Netbank Statements are PDF. What error message do you receive when you try to open them?
