No problem Stephen. This problem for me was triggered by my wife's need for Excel and her MBP failing and in upgrading from that phase I went to a barely used 2016 MBP - which I knew would necessitate some sort of MS Office solution for her (as Big Sur is incompatible with the MS Office 2008 (!!!)

Hi Marcus and All, Out of principles I have been using Apple’s equivalents and also LibreOffice, the latter specially for my spreadsheets, ever since I became aware of the MS' cut-down version of Excel for Mac. It looks like Bill Gates’ method of running down Apple is still being used by MS!

Yes, indeed Jewels. The one off license is now $199, I would be up for 1 now and another soon I suspect, but I eventually decided to go with Office 365 (family - 6 users) but my employer is an MS user and via that as an employee i am eligible for a 30% ongoing annual discount. So deal is done.
