Re: OBD2 Scanner

Thanks Peter,

I’ll get one of those ELM327 from the AUS supplier and give it a try.
I’ll let you know if there are any problems.

Cheers
Walter

Re: OBD2 Scanner

2020-09-29 Thread Peter Crisp
HI Walter, apologies to others this is a bit off course of a mac topic but for
Walter’s request please see below.

I have successfully set up the ELM327 and using the iPhone 8 took these images
(at the Google Drive link here). So this one works fine with a Wifi connection.
Note the app I used “car scanner” is one of a number that works for ELM327
units. Establish a Wifi connection to the unit and then follow your nose. Note
the free instance I have I can only select 2 engine parameters to log. Probably
enough given your earlier emails.

Let me know if any issues with accessing this. I am happy to go off-line and
help you with this Walter. It is my hobby so if you want help just ask.

Regards

Pete

Re: OBD2 Scanner

2020-09-28 Thread Peter Crisp
Hi Walter, see the phrase in bold below for an ELM327 suitable for iPhone -
there are many but note one of them uses WiFI for connectivity, the other
(little blue one) uses Bluetooth for connectivity. Do a search on eBay using
that phrase making sure you include iPhone in the search.

My son has a Hyundai and I will give it a shot this afternoon to see how it
goes with my iPhone and let you know.

Ebay search with this phrase: ELM327 OBDII OBD2 WiFi Car Engine Diagnostic Code
Reader Scan iPhone Android IOS

Re: OBD2 Scanner

2020-09-28 Thread Peter Crisp
Hi Walter, yes I have used many of them previously. I currently have 3
Volkswagens and they work well, but you must choose carefully for your car. For
VW’s, I use the “OBDeleven” (Google it) device paired with iPhone or iPad. The
OBDeleven OBD2 scanner is designed specifically for all VAG cars (Volkswagen
Automotive Group - VW, Audi, Skoda, Bentley, Lamborghini, Seat branded cars all
work with this one). I also have some cheap eBay generic (<$20) which will work
on just about anything with an OBD port I believe.

What car do you have?

They are useful to track live data - I watch exhaust gas temperatures while
towing my caravan but ALL engine parameters can be tracked live.

Regards

Pete.
