Re: Wave App mockups
Cool! My comments and thoughts are for the wave screen: I am not sure if you are only showing the title of the wave or a whole blip text. It would be nice to have enough space to read the blip, for example moving the wave's title to the top bar and the participant list to other screen (like telegram or whatsapp). A good blip navigation would be also important and it should support nested blips, for example showing all the blips in a continuos layout (like the web client) but allowing to fold/unfold them tapping. Apart from this I agree with previous comments. By the way, I have developed an adapter for the Android's EditText widget in order to support blip's editing. Re: Wave App mockups
Hi Zachary - Make the user avatars (and avatar placeholders) circles instead of squares, or at least give them a little bit of padding so their visual weight is not so disproportionately high. Also, Android in general has moved in the direction of circular cropping for profile pictures. Yes it will be a good idea. - Have the app bar and floating action button “float above” (have a higher z-value) than the other content so the FAB catches the user's eye. Ok. - Use a more simple wave icon on the reply bar so it is less visually busy, or maybe swap it for a reply icon since that is really the function the user is going to perform there. Yes. You may also wish to make your back button and “Sign up” button more consistent with other Material apps, but that is just nitpicking. Overall these seem like pretty good designs, and I look forward to seeing them implemented in an app :) Thank you very much for the feedback. If you have any other suggestions please let me know Regards Roshan
Re: Wave App mockups
Hi Ali, I am interested in seeing how blip editing translates to this UI. How should we handle multiple user cursors on screen at the same time? How do we render gadgets/attachments? In the Chat page[1] at the bottom text area in the right corner we can add the gadgets attachments and etc. With regards to the sign up/login page, how does this work for different wave servers? Does it auto-connect based upon the username? Should we have some sort of drop-down to select which wave server we which to connect to? Yes it can, We can auto-connect base on the user name. What sort of things would we have under the menu on the wave inbox screen? At the moment it only have the sing out If you have any suggestions please let me know. I like the overall idea, though there are a few ways you could better adhere to the Material Design guidelines that I think might improve the app's look and feel.
