I have wondered why drive in movie theaters was never used in the show.
It is a very Big part of Americana, the 50's and the south.
The Brightleaf drive in is still in business in Mt Airy, NC.

Like Opie did in the summer, going fishing with his Pa, he had bare feetI
didn't wear shoes much during my summer days either. But school starting in the
fall meant wearing shoes everyday.
On TAGS watching Opie walk home from school knowing his Aunt Bea is waiting for

I too walked to and from school most all of my school days. Third
through fifth grade I just walked down an alleyway and crossed one street. We
then
moved a couple of streets over so it was a little farther but still a rather
pleasant short walk.. except in freezing

It's been a long time since I have posted and I hope that everyone is doing
well. I am wondering if there will be some type of get together at Mayberry
Days for WBMUTBB members. I know that last time I was able to get there it
was on friday around the trivia contest. Looking

the last time i walked home from school was in 1988.. and i didnt
really walk home i walked to grandmas, (then we moved to a rural area
and i had to ride the bus). and yeah those days were great.. another
sad thing about kids not walking home from school is that they are
loosing valuble
