When I was a child in the '50s curtains were frequently used in lieu of doors, maintaining a modicum of privacy while still allowing the heat from the wood or coal stove into the shut off room. (Furnaces weren't as common then-especially in rural areas.)

Hi Gang, FOUND IT After some searching and goodl ole Google Earth, the town is actually spelled Heckmondwike and NOT with an E as in Eckmond Look it up, it's in the northern part of England, northeast of Liverpool. You learn something new everyday, right? Listen to Malcom say it.
